"I don't care if the whole floor hears. I just want the person pulling your strings to hear me loud and clear."
As she spoke, Lyra glanced pointedly at the smartphone propped up on the director's desk.
"You've always turned a blind eye to company drama, preferring to stay out of the crossfire. Yet suddenly, you're deeply invested in this specific project, even going out of your way to interrogate me. I have to wonder—what exactly did she promise you?"
Meeting Lyra's piercing gaze, Director Lancaster suddenly looked guilty, her eyes darting away nervously.
"I have no idea what you're talking about."
"Don't you? Or are you just refusing to admit it?"
Seeing the director stubbornly playing dumb, Lyra shifted her attention entirely to the phone.
"Aria. If you have questions for me, you can ask them yourself. In fact, let me just clear the air right now."
Lyra leaned back in her chair, exuding absolute relaxed confidence as she stared at the device.
"I have zero interest in playing games with you and Maxwell. The title of Mrs. Sterling is yours if you want it. As for Silas's production? Don't even dream about it. He will never allow you back on his set. I barely managed to salvage this partnership as it is."
"I can't control what Maxwell thinks or does. The ball is entirely in your court now. Figuring out how to keep his heart is your problem to solve, so stop obsessing over my every move. If you aren't exhausted by all this scheming yet, I certainly am."
Having delivered her piece, Lyra stood up, towering over Director Lancaster.
"And as for you, Director. I'll be resigning soon anyway, but before I leave this company, let me offer you some parting advice. Stop acting like you're untouchable. Throwing your weight around might work with your subordinates, but what happens when you try that attitude with the real bosses?"
