Hitched & Hitched Again: A Comedy of Marital Mayhem novel Chapter 1833

Lowell watched him, waiting a few beats before asking, "He served himself up on a silver platter. Why didn't you have him grabbed?"

Tarquin flicked his ash, his logic brutally clear.

"If he had the nerve to walk right up to me, it means he had a guaranteed exit strategy. We weren't catching him today."

"Plus, with Axel fighting for his life, I don't have the bandwidth to play his games."

Lowell opened his mouth, but the words died in his throat.

Tarquin let out a long breath and looked at Lowell.

"You don't need to worry about me. I always knew he'd come looking for me eventually. I was prepared for it."

"Seeing him definitely pisses me off, but that's all it is—anger. I'm not going to do something stupid over him!"

In reality, it was a syndicate, and Wyatt was just one moving part!

"She really loves him. I just pray he pulls through. I hope fate cuts them some slack so they can actually be together."

The words barely left his mouth when a bodyguard sprinted onto the roof.

"Boss! Elysia and Dr. Benjamin are looking for you!"

Tarquin and Lowell both stiffened. That meant there was news. They immediately bolted for the stairs!

In the stark white corridor outside the ICU.

Elysia's eyes were bloodshot, and Benjamin's face was terrifyingly grim. The silence in the hallway was suffocating!

A horrible premonition hit Tarquin, making his chest tight and his breathing ragged.

"How is he?" Lowell panted.

Elysia couldn't speak. She just threw herself into Tarquin's arms and broke down into quiet sobs.

Benjamin frowned heavily and shook his head...
