My heart was heavy knowing that Love was going out with David. I tried to distract myself with the kids, but it was still tricky.
“Dad, I love your house so much!” Cayden said I smiled every time he called me Dad. It didn’t get old.
“Once you’re eighteen, it is yours,” I promised, and he cheered.
“Did you hear that, Lara? This is my house.”
My little princess frowned from my lap and glared up at me.
“Why does he get a house in the sky and not me,” she pouted innocently. I kissed her tiny nose, her mom’s nose.
“Because you get a castle. You’re my princess, baby,” I told her, and she smiled sticking out her tongue to her brother.
I went to the kitchen to prepare food for the kids. I could have just ordered, but Love didn’t like that. She was strict with their diet. I prepared pasta and a bowl of delicious salad. I looked at my phone, hoping to see a text from Love, but there was nothing. Should I call her? I missed her already. Fuck. I was crazy in love. I didn’t text her. She was ending things with David. I hoped they could end things amicably and quickly.
I heard giggles from the lounge, and I went over there. Cayden and Solara were playing tug in the lounge.
We happily ate and played games afterward. I glanced at my phone from time to time, hoping Love would call soon.
Cayden lost a tooth, and we put it under the pillow. They planned to stay up all night to catch the tooth fairy, but I knew they would fall asleep soon since they were tired, and I was right. I put a 100-dollar note under his pillow and went to tidy up the kitchen, as I did. My phone rang, and my heart raced as I answered it.
“Hi, baby,” That felt fucking so good calling her that. I could hear Love’s pounding heart as she said,
“Hey. How’s everything going?” she sounded tired.
“We are all good here. How did it go? Did you end things with David?” I was eager to find out. I wanted to start anew with the love of my life. Our happily ever after.
“No, something happened, but I will end things, I promise,” she said. I stayed silent for a moment. What could have happened if she hadn’t?
“Love, why didn’t you?” My voice sounded hostile, but I hated that things didn’t go as planned.
“I’ll tell you why tomorrow, I’m tired,” she yawned.
“Okay,”
“Please kiss the twins goodnight for me. I miss them so much,” she said. She wasn’t used to not seeing them in the house.
“I know you miss them, and I’ll give them kisses from you,” I told her,
“Thank you,”
“Wait, no kisses for me?”
“No,”
“But why, babe,”
“Because I don’t want to kiss you, sir,” her voice was playful.
“So not fair,”

Okay. Kisses for you, big baby,” she giggled. Her laughter went straight to warm my heart. Love had a kind of laughter that made you sinile.
“Sleep well, I’ll see you tomorrow,
“Okay,”
I went to bed with a smile on my face.
The following morning, I woke up to my children’s giggles It felt surreal that they were in my house. When I reached the living area, I was surprised to see my family here.
My kids came out from their grandmother’s side and hugged me. I kissed them.
“Good morning,” I greeted them.
“What are you all doing here?” I asked.
“Well, when CC heard the kids were here, she wanted to come,” Melody answered.
“And what are you all doing here?” I asked, looking at Zeyneb, Seumo, and Melody.
“Well, she carried both chefs,” Zeyneb answered, pointing to the kitchen. Two chefs and Gina were busy making breakfast.
“Ellis, why didn’t you tell me they were spending the night here? You guys could have slept at the Estate,” CC said.
“Because this is my home, and I just wanted this time alone with them,” I answered. Grandmother rolled her eyes and walked away upstairs to my study. She needed to make a phone call.
