Her Hidden Hero from the Unwritten Page novel Chapter 20

Winona flicked him on the forehead. "You're my little brother, and I'm your older sister. Is it really that weird for a sister to buy her brother a cake?"

*Yes, it was weird. Because it had been a very long time since you last bought me a cake.*

He pressed his lips together, took the box, and muttered softly, "Thanks."

Winona still had one strawberry cake left in her hand.

Seth asked, "Is that for you, or for Herbert?"

Winona shot back coldly, "Herbert can eat shit."

Seth tried to hold it in, but ultimately failed, a genuine smile pulling at the corners of his lips.

They arrived at Lakeside High first. After Seth got out, Dan drove further down to Brighton International Academy. The street was lined entirely with luxury cars.

Brighton's rules were incredibly strict. Students were required to wear their uniforms and name badges, and the student council conducted uniform inspections at the front gates every single morning.

Winona stepped out of the car. From a distance, she could already spot the group of students wearing armbands. Leading them was Herbert Xavier.

Herbert was the current student council president, a title he would hold until the end of the first semester of their senior year.

Brighton's boys' uniform consisted of a sharp suit. Since it was hot, he wore the white dress shirt with navy suit trousers. He had a striking, handsome face and a cold, detached expression as he stood holding a clipboard.

Winona took a deep breath, fighting the violent urge to smash her little cake directly into Herbert's face, and lined up at the back.

The inspection moved quickly. In less than five minutes, it was Winona's turn. Adjusting her backpack, she took a step forward.

Spinning a pen in one hand, Herbert glanced at her name badge and student ID, before his gaze drifted down to the box in her hand. He frowned in open disgust. "Winona, I've told you countless times. I don't like cake, especially not strawberry."

Winona froze for two seconds.

The student council members standing next to him looked at Winona with a mixture of pity and secondhand embarrassment. The council frequently held group dinners, and in the past, Winona had shamelessly crashed every single one of them. They knew the drill all too well. Their president had zero interest in the Lennox heiress. Even if she technically paraded around the title of his fiancée, she was the one desperately throwing herself at him.

Feeling a sour sting in her chest, Rhea lowered her eyes. "They're engaged. It's completely normal."

"Normal, my ass," Zoe muttered. "I think you're way prettier than that Winona girl."

Rhea forced a smile and tickled Zoe's side. "You're just saying that to make me feel better."

"I'm not! Hey, stop it, that tickles, haha..."

Zoe was extremely ticklish. She reflexively stepped backward to escape, but lost her balance and nearly tumbled to the ground.

A hand caught her firmly by the back.

Heart pounding with lingering panic, she spun around.

A tall boy stood there, his backpack slung over one shoulder. He was only wearing one earbud, the other white cord dangling loosely in the air.
