He Lost Me to His Best Friend novel Chapter 807

Stay dead?

Pretend they were actually deceased?

What was she plotting?

Confused, Julian stayed silent, waiting for her to explain.

Scarlett stood up and walked slowly to the window. Gazing out at the sprawling cityscape, her voice was perfectly calm. "What happened out there wasn't a random accident. And I guarantee Kane Stetson didn't act alone."

"This is the perfect opportunity to see exactly who is celebrating my demise."

"Let them get sloppy. Let them throw their parties and show their true colors. Then, when they're at the peak of their arrogance, I'll come back from the grave. It'll make the game so much more entertaining."

She turned to look at Julian and Zachary. "What do you think?"

Julian pondered it for a moment, then a slow grin mirrored hers. "Alright. If you want to play dead, I'll play dead with you. Now I'm actually curious to see how this plays out."

Zachary chuckled, highly amused by the two of them. "Fine, I'll cover your tracks. We'll play the death game."

His smile faded slightly as he added, "Though, your ex-husband has been having a total meltdown trying to find you. He even called me, begging for help tracking you down."

Scarlett didn't so much as blink.

Seeing his panic, Scarlett softened, offering a reassuring smile. "Dawn has my mom and Zara. You know my mom—she would burn the city down before letting anyone take Dawn away from her."

"I just want to use this to give Yardley one final, ultimate test."

Her gaze hardened into steel. "I want to see who he really is when no one is watching. Will he step up, be a real father, and try to make up for his mistakes? Or will he use his guardianship to steal every penny I left for my daughter?"

"After all, the Flynn Group is drowning in debt. They're inches away from bankruptcy."

Julian's eyes widened in realization. "You're using this as the ultimate test of his character."

He hesitated for a second before asking, "But... what if he doesn't touch the money? What if he really has changed, and he actually protects Dawn? Then what?"
