Chapter 67
It was something about assessment schemes and technical, but something I could help with.
So I did.
I explained, broke it down, walked him through it. And slowly, the moment settled. Time passed without me noticing.
*…and that’s basically it,” I finished after some minutes. He nodded and looked at the screen… but apparently, he was not done being a jerk.
“You don’t look like the smart type.” He said then and my expression shifted at once.
I turned to him immediately. “Ouch?!” Then, “What is wrong with you? I just helped out here.”
“Relax. It’s a compliment,” he said. “I thought you were dumb before. Now I don’t.”
I glared then. “That is not better.”
“That’s the truth.”
I stared at him, then I pushed my chair back and stood.
“You know,” I said, “you could just say thank you.”
“For what?”
I blinked. “For helping you. Obviously.”
“It was mutual.”
“What do you mean mutual?”
“By explaining it,” he said, “you reinforced your own understanding. You helped me. I helped you.” He said and I stared at him for a second.
“I didn’t know you were this petty.”
“I didn’t know you liked begging for appreciation instead of letting it come to you naturally.”
Silence…
I let out a short, disbelieving breath, then I turned and stormed out.
