He Didn’t Kidnap Me. Not Exactly novel Chapter 48

Chapter 48

(Daisy’s POV)

I hid.

Again.

At this point, it was becoming a personality trait.

I didn’t even think about it this time. The moment I spotted Josh stepping closer to my axis, my body moved before my brain could argue. I slipped behind a parked car, crouching just enough to stay out of sight while still being able to see him clearly.

I just couldn’t deal with him.

Not after everything that had just happened.

From where I stood, I watched him casually adjust his jacket like he didn’t have a care in the world. Like he hadn’t walked into my

life, wrecked it, and then carried on as though it was nothing.

The door behind him opened, and a girl stepped out.

His girlfriend.

I didn’t know or remember her name, but I knew exactly who she was the moment I saw her. Pretty in a way that looked effortless. Hair done, outfit neat, posture confident. The kind of girl people noticed without trying. The kind of girl I used to think I needed to

become just to keep someone like him.

She leaned against the doorframe and smiled at him, soft and familiar.

Josh grinned back.

Then he did something that made my stomach twist.
