Chapter 141-
(Daisy’s POV)
By the time DeLuca’s parked his care, I had considered changing clothes twice.
I know. It doesn’t make sense and sounds pointless currently
I was just trying to look like someone capable of having a calm adult conversation instead of someone who had nearly rewritten her entire emotional
framework into a handwritten apology letter at three in the morning.
Very different situations.
I sat in the living space with my laptop open in front of me, pretending to read through a document I had not processed for the past several minutes.
Outside, I heard automated concluding sounds and my stomach immediately tightened.
Okay.
Fine.
This was fine.
He had read the letter
Things would be awkward starting moments, but then we would talk, fix this disaster, and stop behaving like two emotionally constipated people sharing an apartment.
Simple.
The front door opened then and I looked up instantly.
DeLuca stepped inside wearing dark jeans, a black shirt beneath a leather jacket, and the kind of calm expression that probably made people accidentally
confess crimes around him.
He shut the front door behind himself and walked further in.
For one hopeful second, I thought he was coming toward me immediately.
Instead, he placed his keys on the living space table and removed his watch first.
Oh.
So apparently we were doing tasks before repair.
Good to know.
I stood from the chair.
“Hi.”
He glanced toward me briefly.
“Daisy.”
Flat.
Not cold exactly.
But not soft either.
That nervous hope inside my chest shifted uneasily.
Still, I pushed forward.
“So…” I started carefully. “What do you have to say?”
He looked at me properly now. And the silence that followed was immediate confusion.
Actual confusion.
“What?” He inquired.
My brows pulled together.
Okay.
That was rude.
Like genuinely rude.
“You saw it.”
