He Didn’t Kidnap Me. Not Exactly novel Chapter 11

Chapter 11

He nodded slowly. “So he knows she’s really there.”

“Yes, and then he drives straight into the trap.”

Nico rested against his elbow again. “So you’re putting the girl’s life in danger.”

I met his gaze without hesitation.

“My mother was murdered.”

He held my stare.

“So this ends with Volkov dead. I don’t care about anything else.”

Nico raised his hands in surrender.

“Alright, man. I get it.”

The conversation ended there.

(Daisy’s POV)

“This is ridiculous!”

This is me some days later, pacing the room again.

I had been trailing everywhere and had lost count of how many laps I had done.

“This is not acceptable,” I muttered.

I had missed four days of school.

Four!

And my job at the campus library probably thought I had disappeared. And worst of all… my mom.

I always visited her twice a week because of her ailment and now I hadn’t shown up.

She worried easily, which meant she was probably worrying herself to death right now.

I stopped pacing and glared into the open air.

“This stupid mafia prison nonsense!” I said out loud.

Earlier that morning I had gone out into the hallway.

“Where’s DeLuca?” I had asked one of the guards.

“He’s out.”

That had been the entire answer and it hadn’t been helpful so now, in my frustration, I marched to the small table on the

side and grabbed the glass sitting on it.

I raised it, ready to smash it against the wall in my rage. Then I paused.

“…who am I kidding,” I muttered and gently put it back down.

I sighed and grabbed my phone instead and suddenly, an idea hit me.

An obvious one.

“Oh my God.”

I stared at the screen.

“Why didn’t I think of this earlier?”

I opened the keypad, obviously. And started dialing. But then I hesitated, thinking.

I/swallowed lightly, then went ahead.

“91-”

A knock interrupted me.

“Daisy.”

My head snapped up. DeLuca’s voice came through the door.
