Genetic Ascension novel Chapter 2278

Cheri's eyes widened.

Humiliation. That was the only word she could use to describe it. There wasn't anything else that it could be.

Their guild was very open with their love lives, but this was something that festered and went wild amongst the lowest rung of disciples.

Plus, it was one thing to do something like that of your own volition. To be demanded to do it by another as though you were a pair of circus clowns present for the entertainment of others… That was a different matter entirely.

Cheri looked at Sylas again. For some reason, she found herself relying on him more and more. She didn't even consciously realize she was looking at him until she observed those still as lake eyes.

Sylas didn't seem particularly angry or particularly happy. He simply looked…

Indifferent.

And then he spoke.

"It seems that… old age really isn't enough of a teacher."

Melody's eyes narrowed. No woman liked to be called old, and it came across like Sylas was entirely indifferent to her threats.

Instead, he slowly reached toward his back.

"Let what happens here today be a lesson to the world, should any of you survive, that is." Sylas said slowly.

This time, he pulled out not a calligraphy brush, but instead…

His scythe.

SHIIIIIING.

"I will spell it out just once so that it won't be forgotten again."

Sylas' scythe almost carelessly curved through the air. The echo of the blade was so sharp that a swath of disciples down below were instantly cut in two, but he didn't even acknowledge them.

"When the Grimblades arrive, you do not ask questions, you do not block and oppose, you do not stand in their way. You hold your tongue, you control your breath, you restrain your aura.

"The punishment for not doing so…

"Is death."

The aura of Sylas' Lust Seed roared through the air. His Will instantly became overwhelming, so suffocating and all encompassing it felt like what was once a single drop before was worth as much as an ocean now.

Melody grunted and felt as though all of her Aether Pathways had been constricted in the same instant of time. Her flight in the air was suddenly restrained.

Every one of them was flying with the use of telekinesis. But the moment their Wills faltered, how could they continue.

Melody hurriedly slammed out with a palm, meeting a scythe hidden in the shadows.

She shrieked as her hand was sliced clean off and she was sent flying.

Sylas didn't seem to be in a great rush.

He threw the scythe in his hand and it spiralled down through the air, following down after Melody faster than she could retreat.

Chi.

Between his void and his Lust Seed, the Rune Masters around him could neither maintain their telekinesis or cast Runes.

So…

He would kill.

The Hollow Ship zipped through the air, heading right for Dominan. However, the Patriarch was sharp. He realized that something was wrong instantly and brought out a shield and sword.

There was a bubbling sense of humiliation in him. He hadn't had to use his weapons in millennia. But now he was actually bringing them out against such a— BANG.

The head of an elder beside him exploded, the blood splattering all over the side of his face. He could taste the crimson dripping down his lip, his body shaking for a moment as he took heed of just what had happened.

BANG. BANG. BANG.

Runes danced in the air as screams filled what was left in between.

Sylas' pupils dilated, his mind reaching an absolute state of focus. He used layering changing of space and time, mixing in heavy doses of the void to trick the sight of the experts around him.

The moment they were alert to a hidden weapon killing them all, they thought they could handle it. But every time they grew confident, another one of them would die, and then another.

Sylas didn't move an inch, his Lust blooming off of him in waves that were starting to affect the surrounding disciples.

Without a care in the world, some of them directly started ravaging the person beside them.

Dominan realized in that moment that he couldn't just stand around and do nothing.

With a roar, he charged right at Sylas.
