The taller female, Livia Drusilla, smiled. There was a condescending air in her voice. I’ve heard of you. C- class, matched with three S-class males, and then kicked out. Pitiful.”

Phoebe gently tugged her sleeve, her tone playfully scolding. “Livia, don’t say that. Margaret has already been through a lot.” She looked at Margaret, her eyes full of fake concern. “Margaret, don’t mind her via speaks her mind, but she means no harm. By the way, why are you here? This isn’t really a place for a C- class female, is it?”

Margaret looked at her and smiled.

Same old script, every time. The fake-nice girl always has a blunt friend to do the dirty work, while she plays innocent, kind, and the peacemaker. Disgusting. Just disgusting.>

She held up her suitcase and smiled with perfect sincerity. “Looking for a place to stay.”

Livia laughed out loud. “Looking for a place to stay?”

She looked Margaret up and down. “Do you know where you are? This is the most expensive residential area on Prime Planet. Only S-class females live here. A C-class like you-looking for a place here?”

Livia turned to Phoebe, laughing so hard her shoulders shook. “Phoebe, is she a little… out of it?”

Phoebe gently tugged her sleeve again, her tone helpless. “Livia, don’t be like that.”

She looked at Margaret, her eyes full of worry. “Margaret, don’t take it to heart. Livia just says what she thinks. But she has a point. This really isn’t a place for a C-class female. How about I introduce you to some cheaper places? I know some people-I can ask around for you.”

Margaret watched Phoebe’s effortlessly controlled expressions and almost laughed. In her original world, Phoebe could have been an actress. Too bad she was born in the wrong world.

“No need,” she said lazily. “I already found a place.”

Phoebe’s eyes flickered subtly.

“Found one?” she asked softly, but her gaze drifted toward the space behind Margaret, testing. “Margaret. you wouldn’t be thinking of staying here, would you?”

Livia laughed even louder. The mockery was completely undisguised. “Here? Do you even know whose house this is?”

Phoebe tugged Livia’s sleeve again, but this time, she didn’t stop her. She just sighed, like she was coaxing a child who didn’t know any better, “Margaret, this is Mr. Jewett’s house. Mr. Jewett is the director of Prime Planet Central Hospital. He’s SSS-class. Surely you’ve heard of him?”

She took half a step closer and lowered her voice. “Mr. Jewett doesn’t like being disturbed. Even the rest of us are careful not to get too close to his house. You, a C-class-standing here-if he sees you, he might not be happy. I’m genuinely worried for you.”

Margaret paused for a second internally.

What? She has some connection to Cheiron?

Suddenly, she felt a little worried. It was not for any other reason, but about her decision to move into Cheiron’s house. What if Cheiron was just like her three ex-husbands-completely charmed by Phoebe? Wouldn’t she be walking right into the lion’s den? Cheiron was an SSS-class beastman. One little aura blast from him could send her to her death.

She looked at Phoebe. “Ms. James, are you close with Mr. Jewett?”

Phoebe’s expression stiffened slightly-as if she hadn’t expected Margaret to question her. But she recovered quickly. “Not close, exactly.”

She waved her hand in a subtle way–the kind of gesture meant to make you think she was being modest. “We’ve met a few times. Exchanged a few words.”

Margaret frowned. She couldn’t tell if Phoebe was lying or not. Then she remembered-this world was also a book. She quickly called out in her mind, “Primo, in the original book, does Cheiron know Phoebe? Do they have any connection at all?”

Primo replied, “No, Host. The original book mainly focused on Phoebe and your three ex-husbands. Cheiron was a background character-he never even appeared. The only SSS-class beastman who got any page time was Baar Iverson-Kiran’s boss. And he ended up getting outsmarted by Kiran and died badly. He was just there to show how clever Kiran was.”
