“I was just…” Cheiron paused. His gaze left her face and drifted toward the window, “needed to talk to
someone.”
The room went quiet.
Margaret stood there. Suddenly, she thought she saw a hint of loneliness in Cheiron’s eyes. A powerful SSS-class beastman like him-at the pinnacle of power, with immense strength and endless wealth. What could cast such a desolate shadow over him?
Is it that C-class female he mentioned?
Margaret’s imagination instantly cooked up a tragic romance: a C-class female falls for an SSS-class/elite Desperate to stand as his equal, she volunteers for illicit experiments, injecting banned stimulants to force her spiritual power upward. The drugs kill her, leaving the elite heartbroken. Now, every C-class female he sees reminds him of her…
Even though her own experience in the book world had been miserable, Margaret still believed that true love could exist in this world. So for a moment, she actually felt sorry for Cheiron.
She slowly sat back down on the sofa. Her voice softened. “Sorry. The way you said that earlier… I thought you were warning me.”
Cheiron looked back at her. His eyes had returned to their usual calm. “I should be the one apologizing. I don’t socialize much. My tone can be cold.”
He paused, then added, “I am very interested in you.”
Margaret frowned, about to say something-
“Oh my god, oh my god!” Primo’s voice exploded in her mind. “Host, he said he’s interested in you. Oh my god. He’s interested in you!”
Margaret cursed in her mind, “Can you be more stable?”
But Primo talked back, “I can’t be stable, Host. I’m just a little baby who was born a few days ago.”
Margaret put a hand to her forehead.
Then she saw Cheiron pick up another document and glance at it. “Your psychological counseling,” he said. “I don’t think we need to continue.”
Margaret blinked. “Why not?”
“Because you don’t need it.” Cheiron looked at her, his tone certain. “You are an optimistic and strong female. This divorce hasn’t caused you any psychological trauma.”
Margaret blinked again. Then she smiled, “Are you complimenting me?”
Cheiron didn’t answer. He just put the document back on the desk and said, “You should go to the Spiritual

“You don’t need to rent,” he said. “Don’t all females have housing benefits? Once your spiritual power test results come out-if you reach A-class or above-you’ll be assigned a good place to live. No rent. You just pay basic utilities and maintenance.”
Tknow Margaret’s tone was lazy. “But even if I scheduled a test for this afternoon, the results wouldn’t come out right away, would they? And even after the results come out, the application process takes time I still need a place to stay in the meantime. You don’t think my dear ex-husbands would be willing to put me up for a few more days, do you?”
Cheiron looked at her. He didn’t speak. His eyes gave nothing away.
When he stayed silent, Margaret just leaned into the rant. “Besides, those three ex-husbands of mine gave me an ultimatum yesterday. They want me out as soon as possible. They said if I stay any longer, Hll be in the way of their new life Can you believe that? The divorce ink’s barely dry, and they’re already rushing to welcome their new mate
“You have no idea, Lord Jewett They already brought that S-class female home yesterday And when t didn’t greet her properly, they hit me with a spiritual dominance aura Margaret kept going She didn’t expect Cheiron to do anything for her. She just wanted to ruin her three ex-husbands’ reputations Guys like them-from the upper echelons-probably knew each other, right?
Cheiron’s eyebrow moved slightly. He seemed surprised that there were males-even S-class ones-who would treat a female so rudely. In this world where females were so rare, even a C-class female was still worthy of respect.
