The receptionist took one look at the burly, suit-clad men following him and knew they weren’t here for a dive.
"I’m looking for someone. Where’s Ah Bu?" Su Chen asked, his face devoid of expression.
The receptionist’s heart sank. As the saying goes, you know your own business best, and she was well aware of what went on inside the club.
The fact that Su Chen and his entourage immediately asked for Ah Bu told her they were here to settle a score. After all, she’d heard rumors about the shady things he did while leading dives.
While she couldn’t stand Ah Bu herself, he was still a company employee, so she couldn’t just sell him out. However, judging by the menacing air of Su Chen’s group, she knew this was way above her pay grade. Her only choice was to pass the buck.
An idea quickly formed in her mind. "Sir, I’m sorry," she said hastily, "I’m not sure where Coach Ah Bu is right now. But if it’s something important, you could ask our club manager!"
Su Chen glanced at her and nodded. "Lead the way."
Wasting no time, the receptionist led Su Chen’s group toward the manager’s office. As they crossed the main hall, numerous tourists changing into their gear and other club instructors all turned to watch them with curiosity.
Many of the club’s instructors assumed they were the young scions of the Qingshan Group, the club’s backer, coming for an inspection. After all, the bodyguards trailing behind them were hard to miss.
"Whoa, which young master from the Group is that? What an entourage!"
"Who knows? But the guy in the lead doesn’t look right. He’s got a look in his eyes like he’s about to murder someone."
"But none of the other rich kids from the Group ever brought bodyguards when they came to hang out. This is a whole different level. Who do you think this guy is?"
"Why are you so concerned? You planning on getting involved? These aren’t the kind of people you and I can afford to mess with."
At that, the gossiping crowd immediately shut their mouths and went back to their own business.
They all had a pretty good idea of what was happening. If this man wasn’t a corporate executive or a young master, then he was here to make trouble.
"Sir, this is our manager’s office," the receptionist said, stepping aside.
Su Chen knew exactly what she was thinking and dismissed her with a wave.
