Ian Winters was in a hurry to copy some files when he returned to the office, so he hadn’t noticed the woman standing there.
When she suddenly spoke, Ian Winters had no choice but to finally look at her.
Except...
Ian Winters stared at the woman in confusion and couldn’t help but ask, "Who are you?"
Gloria Reynolds never imagined Ian Winters wouldn’t recognize her, and her face instantly darkened.
"You don’t recognize me?" Gloria Reynolds’s face was a mask of astonishment. "But you greeted me just yesterday," she said, incredulous.
Ian Winters asked, "Did I call you by name?"
Gloria Reynolds froze. Thinking back, she realized that when Ian Winters greeted her yesterday, he hadn’t actually used her name.
As if struck by a sudden realization, Gloria Reynolds’s face went deathly pale. Her lips parted, but no words came out.
Seeing her reaction, Ian Winters understood. He now had a good idea of what had just transpired.
A flicker of anger rose within him. His voice grew stern. "At the Shaw Group, the one thing we cannot tolerate is employees overstepping their bounds. You do not have the authority to be in this office. I need you to leave. And in the future, do not enter without permission."
Gloria Reynolds didn’t dare stay a moment longer. Hearing his words felt more like a liberation than a dismissal, and she practically stumbled back to her desk.
After Gloria Reynolds had gone, Ian Winters looked at Chloe with an apologetic expression. "Miss Sinclair, please don’t worry. I will be sure to handle today’s incident properly as soon as I’m back from my meeting."
Chloe Sinclair nodded. "Thank you, Assistant Winters."
With that said, Chloe Sinclair glanced at her phone. Aaron Archer had just sent her a message.
"I’m heading upstairs now. Shall we go together?"
Ian Winters nodded. The two of them walked to the elevators in the hallway, where they parted ways.
When Chloe Sinclair arrived upstairs, all the interviewees were already there.
Chloe Sinclair sat in the reception hall, a laptop resting on the white mahogany table before her.
