People instinctively backed away.

Valerie hadn’t caught her breath yet. Faced with that calm approach, she stammered. “Y-you… what are you doing?”

A card appeared in front of her.

“For the door,” Seraphina said evenly. “Sorry.”

She turned and walked away. That retreating figure looked impossibly cool. The field stayed silent for several long minutes.

Then a girl suddenly shouted, “That was insane. I’m officially a fan. International program queen just showed up.”

The girl was Chloe. Her shout was like lighting a fuse.

The girls erupted instantly, voices overlapping as they declared their support. The guys wanted to protest. Why her?

Then they glanced at Ethan still lying face-down in the grass and swallowed hard.

Right. Never mind. Ethan had lost.

Not only was there no outrage, the girls rushed to back Seraphina. Viola slammed her phone onto the desk, furious.

She’d waited all day and paid good money for first-hand news, and this was it?

The international program was useless. A complete joke.

Buzz. A WhatsApp message came in.

Cassian messaged, “I’m at the school gate. Waiting.”

Two earlier messages sat unread. “Want me to give you a ride this morning?”

“Did you eat lunch?”

She hadn’t checked her phone.

Seeing there were no afternoon classes, Seraphina picked up her phone and headed out

At the school gate, people moved constantly.

Not far from the corner, a night market street was setting up. Vendors rolled in one after another, stalls taking shape, the area slowly filling with noise and energy.

trying.

A Bentley sat behind him, understated and unmistakably expensive.

If someone could latch onto a man like that, it was an instant upgrade to a different life.

A girl pulled out a compact, fixed her makeup, and walked over with a practiced sway.

“Hi, she asked sweetly. “Is there anything I can help you with?”

Cassian glanced at her sideways. “Leave.”

His voice dropped flat and sharp, killing the moment instantly. From a distance, Seraphina saw the girl panic and hurry away.

She raised a brow and walked over. “What happened?”

Cassian turned toward her, smiling easily. “She asked for directions.”

A light breeze lifted his collar, carrying a faint, clean scent.

He reached out and ruffled her hair. “Come on. I’ll take you to a popular spot.”

Didn’t girls her age love checking out trendy places, taking photos, posting online? They got into the car and buckled up.

Cassian handed her a piece of fruit. “Have this first.”

Resting her chin on her hand, Seraphina was about to ask if he knew Josh when two avocados appeared in front of her.

She took them, her eyes drifting to his long, pale fingers. Nice hands.

“You were about to say something?” Cassian asked as he started the car.

She glanced away lazily. “Never mind.”

Once the thought was interrupted, she didn’t feel like picking it back up. Cassian kept his eyes on the road People said the urge to share was where feelings began.

With her, that urge clearly wasn’t there yet.

They drove to 139 Street just as the crowds thickened. Cassian pulled Seraphina closer in front of hum as they moved forward. Twice, the flow of people surged hard enough to shove them together
