Serves her right.
“Mom, shouldn’t we help her?” Lyanna asked softly.

“Silly girl, help her with what?” Miranda said, patting her hand. “Did you forget how she threatened us at the hotel?”
She sighed, touched by her daughter’s kindness.
She was too kind for her own good. Sometimes Miranda couldn’t help thinking her daughter was almost painfully soft-hearted.
“But-”
“No buts,” Miranda said brightly, the smile at the corners of her eyes deepening. “You must stay far away from her. Her husband is terrible. What if she gets bad ideas and tries to steal Damian from you?”
Lyanna nodded obediently.
In truth, she wanted to say something else.
Before, having never seen the world, she thought Damian was every girl’s dream prince.
Until she ran into that man today. Commanding and distinguished.
Compared to him, Damian suddenly felt… ordinary. At best, a rich kid with a pretty face.
She wanted to know that man’s name.
More than that, she wanted to marry him.

Someone jumped in, [Which school?]
[Valedawn University.]

Another comment followed, [You’re behind. She’s already known there. Piano Level Nine at her age.)
[No way. She’s that good?] 32K likes
A new comment popped up, sounding smug, [You all think that’s impressive? That’s just the surface. You have no idea how stacked her background is.]
[Then say it.]
[Go on. Shock us.]
Viola put her phone down, feeling light headed. It was like watching the birth of a star under bright lights.
Knock, knock, knock. Someone tapped at the door.
A respectful voice came from outside. “Lunch is ready.”
Viola smiled. “Okay. I’ll be right down.”
She grabbed her phone and headed to the dining area in high spirits. Gregory and Celestine were already there.
“Hello,” she greeted gently.
“Viola, come sit,” Celestine said warmly. She glanced up and noticed Seraphina coming downstairs. “Sweetheart, hurry over and try today’s food.”
Viola took the spoon politely. “Aunt, let me serve you a bowl. Uncle, would you like something warm or soup?”
The couple exchanged a smile. Viola had always been thoughtful and driven.
She started piano lessons at five. Years of discipline had finally paid off.
“Viola did well,” Gregory said kindly. “First place in the piano competition.”
Viola smiled modestly. “Uncle, you flatter me. It’s just Valedawn. Nothing that impressive.”
