Chapter 627 A Bathroom Promise
She dropped her luggage by the door and made her way straight to the master bathroom. After turning on the faucet, she let hot water pour into the tub and added a few drops of relaxing essential oil.
Soon, steam filled the room, carrying a soothing aromatic scent. Riley undressed and eased herself into the warm water, releasing a soft, contented sigh.
She closed her eyes, savoring the way the heat wrapped around her limbs, though her mind kept drifting back to everything that had unfolded earlier that day.
Just then, the bathroom door swung open without a sound.
Sebastian stepped inside.
His intentions were clear-he’d already undressed, with nothing but a towel tied loosely around his waist, leaving his toned chest and abs on full display.
He walked barefoot across the slightly damp tiles, moving steadily toward the tub, his gaze dark and focused.
Riley’s heart gave a little jump. Instinctively, she sank deeper into the water, swallowed, and tried to keep her tone even. “I… don’t remember inviting you in. What are you doing here?”
Sebastian didn’t bother responding.
He reached the tub, swung one long leg over the edge, and stepped right into the steaming water.
The space suddenly felt much smaller with him in it.
Riley had nowhere to go.
In the next moment, his arm slid around her and pulled her effortlessly against his solid frame.
They settled together against the back of the tub, close and intimate.
Skin met skin, the heat passing between them through the warm water, almost too much to bear.
But Sebastian didn’t make another move.
He simply looked down at her-her shoulders flushed pink from the steam, dotted with glistening beads of water, looking utterly tempting.
After a stretch of silence, he finally spoke, his voice stubborn and low. “Riley, I’d rather die than ever sign divorce papers.”
Riley paused, then understood.
He was still hung up on that word-divorce-the one she’d thrown out during their little performance earlier.
It almost made her smile, and her heart softened a little.
She turned in his arms, cupped his face in her hands, and looked straight into his eyes. “How long are you going to hold that over me?
“In that moment, it was the only thing I could think of to get them off our backs for good. So I had to… put you through that.”
Sebastian felt the warmth of her palms and the reassurance in her words.
His eyes flickered, and he answered quietly, “As long as you know what you put me through.”
