Carson gave a faint nod. "Turn the heat up a bit in the master suite. Also, Summer is here by herself. Make sure her room is at a comfortable distance from the other guests."
"Right away, sir," the manager replied smoothly. "Please let me know if you require anything else."
Carson waved a hand dismissively, and the manager turned and retreated into the shadows.
Hidden behind the pillar, Trixie's heart pounded. The tone of that exchange wasn't between a guest and a manager—Carson sounded like he owned the damn place.
Flashing back to the way Carson had casually spoken to the manager at the high-end restaurant weeks ago, Trixie realized she might have made a massive miscalculation. Carson Foster was absolutely not a kept man.
But that brought up an even bigger question: If he was this wealthy and powerful, why on earth was he messing around with someone else's fiancée?
She waited until Carson finished his cigarette and headed back before emerging, pretending she had just returned from the bathroom.
Summer checked her watch. "I only rented this place for the day, but I really don't want to leave. Let me see if I can contact the owner and pay extra to stay the night."
Carson seamlessly interjected with a calm smile. "Don't worry about it. I already worked it out with the owner for a full twenty-four hours. Staying the night is fine."
"Seriously?" Summer gasped, thrilled. "Getting a full day and night for that price is an absolute steal!"
Marina shot Carson an amused look but kept her lips sealed.
Trixie stared at Carson, her mind spinning with wild theories.
Since there was no rush to pack up, everyone relaxed and partied straight through until eleven. As midnight approached and the temperature dropped, the group finally called it a night and headed upstairs.
Carson led Marina straight up to the third floor. She glanced over her shoulder. "They're on the second floor, and we're on the third. Isn't that a little too obvious?"
He gripped her tightly, pulling her flush against his solid frame as he peppered frantic, burning kisses across her jaw and bare shoulders, a devastating mix of tenderness and raw hunger.
He was physically dominant, his long legs caging hers. Moving on pure instinct, Marina hooked her legs around his waist, nipping at his lower lip as she gasped his name. "Carson..."
"Mhm," he groaned, the heavy, gravelly sound vibrating against her mouth as his grip on her waist tightened possessively.
Marina always felt like she was losing herself too much with him, terrified of giving up total control. But Carson had taught her that surrendering to the pleasure wasn't a sin.
Whenever she managed to claw back a sliver of rationality, his relentless, scorching touch immediately obliterated it.
The winter night at the estate was profoundly quiet. The only sound was the wind howling through the bamboo groves, casting wild, writhing shadows against the glass.
The fragile stalks trembled violently, terrified of breaking under the brutal force, yet desperate for the gale. Because only the fierce, chaotic storm could make them bend and stretch so wildly into the frozen dark, pushing them to the absolute limit between shattering and feeling terrifyingly alive.
