Jenna:
When I returned to my room, I paced around anxiously.
Tears kept filling my eyes and then fading away.
I didn’t even have friends anymore. In the last few weeks, I had lost everyone.
I couldn’t talk to my friends without ending up fighting with them.
Every time someone texted me, I thought it was him, so they all started thinking I was toxic.
Yet they still came to my birthday, and I couldn’t even spend time with them.
When they left, they all told me never to expect anything from them again.
That broke me.
It was terrifying how I had lost everything for a man who was never mine, for a man who wasn’t even the one I wanted.
The sound of my phone beeping filled me with anxiety.
With shaky hands, I checked it. It was that asshole again.
I answered the call, holding the phone to my ear, and gulped several times before forcing the words out.
"Hello?" I asked in a rather soft voice.
He immediately chuckled on the other end.
"Hello?" he mimicked me.
My lips trembled as I fought back a cry. But then I sucked in a deep breath.
Crying over someone being cruel to me was an old habit.
Compared to what he’d already done to me, this was nothing.
"Did you get the video deleted?" he asked, almost laughing.
"It’ll be deleted in a few minutes," I uttered, hearing him grunt on the other end of the call.
"Why is that? Did you seriously go home and decide to rest? I thought you’d be panicking. Unless you want someone to see your body."
As he started saying those kinds of things, I pulled the phone away for a moment, covering my mouth with my hand to stop my whimpers from getting louder.
"Hello? Are you there? Please don’t tell me you’re blushing, thinking about it," the nasty man continued.
I put the phone back to my ear and responded after steadying my breathing.
"Verity’s phone is with Alpha King Ragnar, and he was sleeping. But the video will be deleted," I said confidently, even though I wasn’t sure Verity would be able to do it.
But if there was one thing I knew about her, it was that she would try her best.
And her best was always the best of the best.
"Wait, why is her phone with Alpha King Ragnar?" he asked, suddenly distracted.
