Verity:
His eyes were wide, one hand stretched forward as if to block his view of my body.
"I don’t wanna sleep alone," I mumbled, pouting at him.
"Miss Verity, you’re drunk," he uttered, gulping hard.
"I know," I replied. "But I also know I’m lonely."
I pouted again.
Every time I did that, he looked more and more anxious.
"Okay, listen. I’ll ask someone to go stay with you in your room, okay? Maybe I’ll ask Jenna," he said, reaching for the door.
However, he immediately rushed back inside and closed it.
I realized he had seen someone outside.
"Okay, let’s go," I said, reaching for the door.
"No, wait," he uttered.
Before I could react, he suddenly wrapped an arm around my waist and yanked me away from the door.
Then he brought his other hand around from behind and covered my mouth to keep me quiet.
He was holding me from behind.
And honestly, my entire body froze for a few seconds.
Even he froze.
Then he pulled me farther away from the door.
"Hmm," I tried to make a sound.
He dragged me into his bathroom and immediately shut the door, locking it before turning me around and pressing my back against the wall.
He kept one hand over my mouth and used that same arms elbow to pin one of my wrists against the wall.
His strength was enough that I could barely move my hand.
With his other hand, he grabbed my other wrist and pinned it beside my head.
"Where is my grandson?" I heard lady Lucille complain as she entered the room.
It seemed Ragnar had forgotten to lock his bedroom door, and he must have realized it only after he had already pulled me away.
But he had not had enough time to do anything about it.
"I told you, he must have gone out for a jog. Why must you bother him at this hour?" Mrs. Bundy complained tiredly.
"I could not sleep the whole night, and he went out for a jog. All three of them did as if jogging is more important than their grandma," she said, giving us a little insight into what the other brothers were doing.
"What is it? What do you want to talk to him about?" Mrs. Bundy asked.
"I’m gonna sit here, and I’ll only tell him," Lady Lucille said.
I wanted to laugh so badly.
That woman had unknowingly helped me so many times.
"What the fuck is she doing in my room?" I heard Ragnar grunt under his breath.
Then he looked down at me, able to see only my eyes, before throwing his head back.
He kept one hand over my mouth while releasing my wrists, silently warning me with his eyes not to move his hand away.
Then he knocked very gently on the bathroom door.
