Verity:
Flashback:
When I arrived home and knocked on the door, Julia opened it.
She immediately knew something was wrong.
I stepped inside in silence, hearing her lock the door behind us.
Then I dropped to my knees and began to cry.
She immediately wrapped her arms around me.
I had gone to speak with Alpha King Jaguar and he humiliated me while he was drunk.
"They are too cold. They don’t care. And I don’t think they are ever going to stop."
"They will keep coming after him."
I cried as I told her the heartbreaking truth that the threat was not over.
From the way Alpha King Jaguar spoke to me and threatened me, I realized they had held animosity for a very long time.
Just then, a news report played on the TV Julia had left on, and both of us turned to look at the screen in silence.
"The Alpha King brothers have decided to start a new project. A newly discovered island will be filled with one of the best packs of wolves."
"The brothers promise to bring peace and happiness to their people. They swear that nothing matters more to them than the welfare and well-being of the people they love."
The announcement continued while the three brothers stood in line, wearing suits.
There was a wide smirk on their faces. The one in the middle stood taller than both his brothers by an inch or two.
And that asshole was Alpha King Ragnar.
"I know people will be cheering them on for this new project." I sniffled.
"They don’t know that they don’t fucking care about them. If they can ruin an innocent man’s life, they can do anything," Julia commented, scoffing at the news as she lowered her head to hide her tears.
After we cried for a while, we settled on the couch, and I told her everything that had happened there.
I could not remove the image of Alpha King Ragnar from my mind.
And the saddest part was that Gigi was in the frame.
She was standing with two other women, smiling as if she were part of the royal family now.
It was crazy that they had ruined my brother’s life and were able to start theirs so easily.
"Gigi seemed proud. She betrayed my brother just so she could enjoy this life," I hissed, replaying the news again and again while watching her laugh and wave at people.
"People like her are shameless, but you need to be careful with how you deal with all of this," Julia said, gently squeezing my hand.
"I’ll go home now. Please take care of yourself and him. And please don’t let him see those videos."
She held my hand and kissed the back of it, crushing my heart into a million pieces because why couldn’t Gigi be so thoughtful?
I bid her goodbye and watched her leave. Then it was just me alone.
I sat on the couch with my phone in my hand, watching our old videos again and again.
My brother had done a lot for me. He comforted me when I could not shift, or when everyone called me fat.
I was not just overweight. I was disfigured in a way.
The wolf never coming out had left my body broken.
