Verity:
I had seen it today, a little crack in everything.
I lingered around and heard the maids gossiping.
They had seen Gigi crying and having an anxiety attack while the brothers tried to comfort her.
But she had accused them of ignoring her, avoiding her, all because on the night of the eclipse, the brothers had chosen to come and save me without telling her.
Well, it seemed like all I had to do was put in a little more effort, and I was ready to do that.
That night, I worked late with Mrs. Bundy on the gown I had picked for Jenna’s birthday.
It was a beautiful purple gown, very much like something a princess would wear.
The problem was, Jenna wasn’t interested in anything.
She had to be in her bedroom by 8 p.m., and after that, she wouldn’t open her door no matter what.
I had a very bad feeling because, as they say, I was afraid I was going to catch her sneaking out again.
At this point, I began to ask myself, should I just let her do it since she’s an adult? Or should I complain?
What if she really was just heading out with her messy girlfriends?
What if I complained about her and she ended up looking like an entirely different person over something so small?
I groaned, turning around when I saw Jaguar entering my wing through my slightly ajar door.
I frowned in confusion, already wondering why he was here at this hour.
It was 6 p.m. We had had a very heavy tea that day, so I had already opted out of dinner.
I usually dined in my bedroom anyway.
So what was he doing here?
Jaguar immediately stopped when his phone beeped.
I moved closer to the door to listen in, in case it was important.
"No, no, no, wait. I’ll let you know what to do," Jaguar spoke very calmly but there was a little tension in his voice.
"I have to speak with Miss Verity first and see if she wants to file a complaint against Oliver so we can run a background check on him," he continued very softly.
"And I think if I can just convince her that bullying at a young age could be forgiven, and we can punish him by suspending him from his job for a bit instead of putting him behind bars or doing anything else, that would be fine, you know. I don’t want to upset Gigi too much."
My mouth fell open when I heard that.
He was going to fucking come here and convince me to let my bully walk free because he didn’t want to hurt Gigi.
And he was already assuming it had just been some harmless bullying.
When was bullying ever harmless?
But the fact that he was hoping he could convince me was what rubbed me the wrong way.
And, well, I decided I would play a little game too.
