Fated To Three, And I Broke Them All novel Chapter 181

Chapter 181: 181-The Psycho I Am Dating

Verity:

I was slightly confused because I stayed with Roman for several minutes, yet nobody came inside.

After catching that first glimpse of the shadow, I had expected Ragnar to show up.

I mean, I had left a file in his car.

But he didn’t.

The shadow disappeared, and I realised why.

Of course.

It was Ragnar.

He didn’t fucking care.

He had left me in pain the other day like it meant nothing to him.

Why would he fucking show up now?

He had probably come, seen that I was talking to my abusive boyfriend, and decided to mind his own business and let us deal with it.

I’m sure that’s what happened.

"Anyway, I only came here to fix things between us. Look, as your boyfriend, I take full responsibility for my actions and behaviour. I wanted to come sooner and make things right because I know how sensitive women can be. I didn’t want you to think I was going to treat you like this every day, but unfortunately, you had to go on a trip with that fucking Alpha King."

Roman spoke harshly as he sat on the couch after asking me to make him a coffee, in a tone that left no room for refusal.

I had come home exhausted.

If he had been enough of a gentleman, he would have made coffee for me.

But no.

I didn’t argue because I knew exactly what this man was fucking capable of.

"Yeah, it was an important trip," I replied from the kitchen.

"Did you happen to come across the monster? The one you two were investigating?" he called from the living room, turning the television’s volume up so loud that it seemed as though he didn’t even want to hear the answer.

I had to raise my voice just to be heard.

"We actually came across it. It attacked me and everyone else," I answered. "We even lost our driver in its brutal attack."

I went back to making the coffee when he suddenly appeared beside me, making my heart skip a beat.

"Is that Alpha King fucking insane?" Roman snapped, looking genuinely bothered. "He’s dragging you, a wolfeless woman, into the most dangerous parts of the woods. What the fuck was he even thinking?"

His jaw tightened, and his fists clenched.

Who did he think he was, questioning an Alpha King?

I didn’t say anything.

I knew he was only trying to sound intimidating.

"Verity, you don’t have a wolf. All you have is this body. Don’t get me wrong," Roman continued, exposing more of his twisted views.

I always let him talk because the more he spoke, the more he revealed about himself.

"You aren’t even supposed to be in a position like this, working as a secretary for Alpha King. You’re just a pretty face with a sexy body. I don’t want to offend you, but women like you usually get jobs because they’re easy on the eyes."

Roman clicked his tongue, making me smile despite the pain his words caused.

I wasn’t that stupid.

Even then, he was rough, painfully so.

I followed without a word.

He made me sit on the living room couch before storming into my bedroom as though he owned the place.

A moment later, he came back with a first-aid kit, giving me a small pout before settling onto the coffee table in front of me.

He gently took my hand before I could pull away.

His grip was firm enough for me to know that any resistance wasn’t going to work.

"Hold still," he muttered, dabbing the burn with cool ointment that made me wince despite the relief.

His brows knitted together as though he genuinely regretted what had happened, carefully wrapping the bandage around my hand.

Anyone walking in would have thought I was lucky to have someone so attentive, so concerned, so loving.

They wouldn’t have seen the way he had cornered me only moments earlier.

To anyone else, it would have looked like a caring boyfriend tending to his girlfriend’s injury.

He hurt me, then took care of the damage, expecting his kindness to erase everything that had come before.

I stayed quiet, letting him tend to my hand, because the sooner he was done, the sooner he’d be gone.

"Listen, I want you to be careful. You know that fucking Ragnar has every reason to hurt you, right?" he warned, cupping my face in his hands.

"Remember your brother? Remember what he did to Gigi? Any man would never allow his woman to be abused by her ex like that."

There was a strange look on his face as he said those words.

"I think, and I’m pretty sure even Ragnar thinks, that Justin got off easy with death," he finished, the warning in his eyes unmistakable.
