He had zero intention of paying the $1 billion debt.
Whoever had the stomach to hack off Debbie's fingers was undoubtedly ruthless. They had clearly banked on the fact that the CEO of the Blake Group would pay any price to avoid a public scandal. But they had severely underestimated him.
Sebastian's eyes narrowed to venomous slits. He stepped forward, using a thick wad of tissues to pick up the severed digits. He dropped them back into the cardboard box in disgust, tossed the bloody note in after them, and sealed the entire thing inside a heavy plastic evidence bag.
He thrust the bag toward his secretary. "Keep this completely locked down. Not a word to anyone in the building. You and I are the only ones who know about this."
Lester understood the gravity of the situation and nodded firmly. "Understood, Mr. Blake. I'll handle the immediate fallout and start tracing the courier's route."
Abandoning the rest of his afternoon meetings, Sebastian grabbed his keys and stormed out of the office. He didn't bother calling his driver; he needed the aggressive focus of the road. He drove himself straight to the Blake Estate.
Things at the family manor had finally quieted down. Old Mr. Blake and his wife had exhausted themselves fighting for custody of Noah. Sebastian had drawn a hard line, completely locking them out of the boy's life. Without his authorization, they couldn't even get past the gates of the suburban villa.
Realizing their son was immovable, the elderly couple had gracefully surrendered. They couldn't control everything. Lillian had made her boundaries crystal clear, severing all ties with the Blake family, and taking Noah back was a lost cause. They had once hoped to mend the bridge and eventually pass the Blake Group to her capable hands, but she wanted nothing to do with them.
Accepting defeat, the couple decided to pack up their stress and leave the country for an extended world tour to enjoy their twilight years in peace. The estate staff had already begun packing their trunks.
