Family on Their Knees Heart Turned to Ice novel Chapter 1199

"Even though she was ill, she wasn't some lunatic who would just go crazy like people claim. She just lost her memory and regressed, acting like a child, but not an unruly one. She never screamed or destroyed things. Mostly, she was quiet and playful, far more obedient than an actual toddler. Brandon, Colin, you lived at home all those years. You saw it yourselves. Was she the kind of madwoman people talk about?"

Brandon sensed the sudden shift in the air and quickly vouched for her. "Lillian is right. Before Grandma passed, she took care of Mom, and Mom's condition was exactly as Lillian described. With someone looking after her, she could manage basic self-care—eating, bathing, dressing herself. None of that was an issue."

Colin added, "Mom even retained her basic sense of style back then. She was never messy, never hit anyone, and never yelled. This..."

Hearing the brothers confirm it, Sabrina's face drained of color.

Eleanor's sudden slap had completely caught her off guard. She was utterly stunned. For those two years, she had done whatever she pleased to Eleanor, who had been completely subservient and terrified of her. The shock of Eleanor suddenly fighting back was immense. Sabrina couldn't tolerate it and had instinctively reacted.

Now she realized her explosive reaction had exposed something dark. Lillian was incredibly smart; she had definitely pieced it together. A cold sweat broke out over Sabrina's body as she realized she was doomed.

Ignoring the panic radiating from Sabrina, Lillian gently comforted her trembling mother. "Mom, it's okay. I'm here. Your personal doctor is here, your bodyguards are here, and Leonard and Ethan are here too. We are all protecting you. No one will ever hurt you again. I swear it, no one in this world will ever lay a hand on you."

Brandon and Colin, however, had figured it out. They joined Lillian in confronting Sabrina.

"Ms. Ward, did you use the excuse of caring for our mother just to go to St. Jude's and bully her?" Brandon demanded.

Colin was even more blunt. "Did you hit her because you saw she was vulnerable and defenseless?"
