Family on Their Knees Heart Turned to Ice novel Chapter 1142

Lillian guided the elder Blakes through the house and toward the sprawling back garden.

The moment they stepped outside, chaotic screaming pierced the air.

Noah’s shrill voice echoed across the lawn. "Psycho! You're a lunatic! I'm going to kill you! I'm going to kill you!"

A sinking feeling hit Lillian's stomach.

She quickened her pace as a maid came sprinting toward them.

The maid looked at Lillian as if she were a savior descending from the heavens. "Ms. Mercer! Thank god you're here!"

"What's happening?" Lillian demanded.

"It's the young Blake boy and Ms. Eleanor! They're fighting!"

"Fighting?" Lillian's eyes shot toward the pavilion.

They weren't there. Tracking the noise, she looked toward the rose bushes. There, Eleanor Lancaster was wildly thrashing Noah with a fistful of freshly cut, thorny rose stems.

Lillian felt a dark flash of relief, but she kept walking briskly, the elder Blakes jogging to keep up.

The maid gasped out the details as they hurried.

"The boy couldn't sit still in the pavilion. We brought him snacks and fruit, but he refused everything and started wandering around in a foul mood.

He picked up a thick branch and started viciously whacking the blooming roses.

Ms. Eleanor happened to be out picking her morning flowers and saw him.

You know how much she loves her garden.

Ms. Eleanor is an adult, and when she gets like that... she doesn't hold back. She was hitting him incredibly hard."

Lillian understood perfectly. The maid was sugarcoating it.

The truth was, Eleanor was deeply mentally unstable and didn't recognize faces.

When she lashed out, it was purely instinctual, with zero restraint and full adult strength.

Knowing her mother wasn't injured, Lillian's anxiety evaporated.

Her frantic pace slowed to a casual stroll.

She had wanted Noah to meet his crazy grandmother, but she hadn't expected the old lady to teach the brat such a brutal, immediate lesson.
