Ex Wife's Collapse After Divorce novel Chapter 99

Chapter 99

The night at the bar changed everything.

By the next morning, Bianca and Marcus’s men had Rocco by the scruff of his neck, dragging him through the front doors of Lockwood Industries like a dog on a leash.

He didn’t resist. He couldn’t. Two of Marcus’s enforcers flanked him, their grips iron-tight on his arms, marching him straight past the reception desk, past the stunned security guards, past a lobby full of employees who stopped mid-step to stare.

Rocco pointed out Nathan Voss within thirty seconds of entering the building.

Nathan didn’t even have time to stand up from his desk.

Marcus’s men seized him by both arms, hauled him out of his chair, and dragged him through the office floor. Coworkers scrambled out of the way. Someone dropped a coffee mug. It shattered on the tile, and

nobody bent down to pick it up.

They threw Nathan onto the pavement outside the front entrance.

The beating was swift, brutal, and very public. Nathan crumpled, his hands raised in a pathetic shield over his face.

“Who told you to do it?” Marcus stood over him, rolling his sleeves up. “Who’s behind you?”

Nathan broke in under a minute.

“Damian!” he screamed, blood bubbling between his lips. “Damian Hale! He told me to arrange it-he paid me-he said it would just be a scare, just rough Carter up a little-”

Marcus stepped back. He pulled out his phone.

At almost the same time, Damian was still sitting in his office, sweating through his shirt after hearing Nathan had been taken. Then his phone buzzed.

He looked down.

The message was short.

If he used that kind of filthy trick against Ethan again, then one day, when he least expected it, someone

would break his hands and legs.

That made sense. At least, it sounded reasonable enough. Ethan and Nathan had clashed before. Nathan getting beaten over some private grudge had nothing to do with her. Nothing to do with Lockwood’s real business.

She exhaled. “As long as this doesn’t drag the company into it.”

“It won’t,” Damian said quickly.

Vivian gave a small nod. “Fine.” She turned and walked out.

The second the door closed, Damian slumped back into his chair and wiped the cold sweat from his temple.

On the other side of Crestwood City, Bianca paced across her room with her phone pressed to her ear.

On the other end, Aurora had gone quiet for a full three seconds.

Then she said, “Say that again.”

“I said,” Bianca snapped, then lowered her voice at once, “Ethan is the King of the Capital Underground Combat Tournament!”
