Ex Wife's Collapse After Divorce novel Chapter 93

Chapter 93

Nobody moved. Nobody breathed.

One of Marcus’s men-a tall guy with a shaved head and a scar across his left eyebrow-was the first to recover. His hand was shaking as he pulled out his phone and dialed.

Bianca picked up on the first ring. “What’s happening?” she asked.

“Ma’am, we have a problem.” The scarred man’s voice was low, controlled, but she could hear the tremor underneath. “The situation’s gone sideways.”

“What do you mean sideways? Marcus is there-”

“The guy-whoever he is-he was holding back the whole time. Pulling his punches. Marcus hit him clean and he barely flinched. Then he hit Marcus once.” A pause. “Once. Open palm. Sent him flying

across the room.”

Bianca’s blood went cold.

“Marcus is down?”

“He’s getting up. He’s not out. But ma’am, this person’s strength is-it’s not normal. I’ve seen fighters at The Pit for years. This is different. If things escalate further, I can’t guarantee we can control the

situation.”

Bianca’s mind raced. Her fingers tightened around the phone.

“Don’t provoke him,” she said, her voice sharp and urgent. “Do you hear me? Nobody touches him. Nobody says a word. Keep Marcus from charging again if you can. I’m coming with assets and terms for negotiation. Just hold the line.”

“Yes, ma’am.” His voice shook slightly.

Bianca hung up and was already grabbing her coat when her phone rang again.

Aurora’s name on the screen.

She swiped to answer. “Aurora, this isn’t a good-”

“Bianca, listen.” Aurora’s voice was tight. “I just got word that Ethan ran into trouble on your turf. Something about a confrontation with some of your people at a bar-”

“Put Ethan aside for a second.” Bianca was already moving toward the door, snapping her fingers at two of her personal guards. “I’ve got a crisis. Some fighter showed up out of nowhere-he’s taken out Rocco and all his men, and now he just dropped Marcus with one hit. One hit, Aurora. I’m heading there now with cash and people to negotiate before this turns into a bloodbath.”

Aurora went quiet.

“Where?” Aurora asked.

“The Crimson Barrel. Downtown, off Sixth-”

“The Crimson Barrel,” Aurora repeated slowly.

A pause.

Then Aurora started laughing.

It was a real laugh-warm, incredulous, genuinely amused. The sound was so out of place against Bianca’s panic that it stopped her cold.

“What’s funny?” Bianca demanded. “What could possibly be funny right now?”

“Bianca.” Aurora’s voice was light. Almost affectionate. “It’s family hitting family.”

“What are you talking about?”

“Bianca.” Aurora’s laughter softened into something gentler. “I just told you-Ethan got into a confrontation at a bar on your turf. The Crimson Barrel. With Marcus’s people.”

The words hung in the air.

Bianca’s feet stopped. Her hand froze on the door handle.

“The person who beat Rocco,” Aurora said. “The person who just sent Marcus flying across the room. That’s Ethan. Ethan Carter. The man your brother is supposed to be signing a partnership deal with next

week.”

Silence.

Bianca’s mouth opened. Closed. Opened again.

“You’re telling me-” Her voice came out strangled. “The guy Marcus went to fight-the guy I was about to bring a peace offering to-is Ethan?”
