Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 1700

Early the next morning, she checked out of her room and boarded a bus heading back to her rural farm. She hadn't brought much with her this time. A single silver twenty-inch suitcase held all her clothes. The bus swayed along the winding roads for over two hours until it finally stopped at the familiar village entrance. Dragging her suitcase, Sylvia walked down the cement path she had traveled countless times before, heading toward the estate. But the moment she finally stood at the front gate, her entire body went ice cold.

The sight before her made her think she had gone to the wrong place. The rustic, tranquil courtyard that held countless memories was now completely unrecognizable. An excavator was roaring away in the middle of the property. Several old walls that her grandfather Arthur had built with his own two hands had already been pushed over into heaps of ruins. The ground was littered with chaotic piles of bricks and rebar, and the air was thick with the pungent smell of dust. Over a dozen workers in hard hats were working away in full swing. With a deafening crash, another piece of carved wooden window lattice was smashed to pieces.

Sylvia's eyes instantly turned red. "What are you doing!" she screamed. Dropping her suitcase, she rushed into the courtyard like a madwoman. "Stop right now! Who gave you permission to destroy this place!" But her voice was completely drowned out by the deafening noise. She sprinted up to a worker who was swinging a sledgehammer at a wall and forcefully grabbed his arm. Startled by the sudden interruption, several workers stopped what they were doing.

Just then, a plump man wearing a yellow hard hat and clutching a briefcase jogged over. It was the foreman of the construction crew. He looked Sylvia up and down, then quickly turned to yell at the workers. "What are you looking at! Keep working! I will explain things to Ms. Moore. Do not delay the schedule!"

Hearing this, the workers prepared to swing their tools once more. Shaking with fury, Sylvia pointed at the men and screamed fiercely, "Let us see who dares to move another muscle today!"

The workers exchanged uneasy glances, standing around holding their tools, entirely unsure of what to do. But Sylvia was the legitimate daughter of the Moore family, and her commanding presence made it impossible to ignore her. No one dared to truly anger her. Reluctantly putting down their tools, the crowd began to file out of the courtyard one by one. The group stood on the cement road outside the main gate, whispering among themselves. A few workers gathered around the foreman, asking anxiously in hushed voices what they should do now. They worried about losing pay right before the holidays and wondered how they would explain this to Harrison.

The foreman narrowed his shrewd little eyes and pulled out his phone. "What is the rush? Do not panic. I will contact Harrison right now and let him come fix this himself!"
