When the first rays of dawn pierced through the clouds and illuminated the room, the entire massive Nelson commercial empire had undergone a complete regime change under James's thunderous, iron-fisted methods. As the directors left the boardroom, they looked at the man seated at the head of the table with nothing but deep reverence and terror in their eyes. They knew that from this day forward, Nelson Corporation only had one king.
The moment the meeting adjourned, the chilling, murderous aura surrounding James instantly dialed back. He still had to hurry back to the maternity retreat to be with his wife. Quickly giving his final orders, he dumped the aftermath and restructuring tasks onto Keaton and Captain Tyler, then strode out of the building.
When Emmy groggily woke up in the massive bed of her suite, she instinctively nuzzled sideways, instantly falling into a warm, broad embrace. The familiar, crisp scent of the man filled her nose, tinged with a faint hint of body wash. She let out a contented sigh, completely unaware of the tidal waves her husband had unleashed upon the outside world during this seemingly peaceful night.
A few days later, James finally found the time to visit the intensive care unit at the hospital. After several emergency surgeries, Tyler Nelson's life was saved. But he would never open his eyes again, permanently reduced to a vegetative state kept alive only by a ventilator. This exact outcome was entirely within James's design. Even if Tyler Nelson showed signs of waking up, James would make sure he laid there with his eyes closed forever.
With one hand tucked into his suit trousers, James stood by the bed, looking down at the tube-covered Tyler Nelson from his towering height. A bone-chilling coldness settled deep in his dark eyes, utterly devoid of pity. After a moment, he pulled out his phone and snapped a picture of the bed. The framing was casual, but he deliberately included the beeping ECG monitor in the shot. He opened Jared's chat and hit send, adding a brief caption.
[Your precious son is not dead. I have reclaimed both Nelson Corporation and the estate.]
"Mr. Nelson," Lorelei lowered her voice as she stopped beside him. "Martha did not make it through resuscitation."
James's finger didn't even pause as he pressed the elevator button. He simply gave a faint hmm of acknowledgement.
Over the past few days, Martha had suffered repeated heart failures, moving in and out of the emergency room constantly. With modern medical technology, as long as they could secure a compatible heart for a transplant in time, she absolutely would not have died. But coincidentally, one just couldn't be found.
