"Could it be that you profess your love for me, yet you cannot even grant such a simple request?"

Calony gave a cold harrumph and released his grip. He impatiently tugged at the collar of his military uniform, radiating a barbaric hostility from head to toe. "I have countless military matters to handle. When would I have the time to waste playing at romance with you? Just tell me, what is it you actually want? Jewelry? Resources? Money? Say the word, and I will give it to you right now."

Mercedes looked at the entirely unreceptive man before her, a profound sense of helplessness welling up inside. This was Calony. His world consisted entirely of power and desire.
