Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 1554

The lead specialist quickly examined Emmy's pupils and checked her heart rate. "Boss, this is bad! She is suffering from severe post traumatic stress! The environment and machinery in here have cast a massive psychological shadow over her, triggering her sensitive nerves. You must change her environment immediately, or she will be in grave danger!"

Without a second of hesitation, Dean scooped Emmy back into his arms. He took long, rapid strides out of the lab, navigating the corridors until he reached a massive artificial climate controlled botanical garden. The space was bursting with rare, vibrant flowers, and a sweet fragrance filled the air. Once she was away from the sterile metal environment and surrounded by the scent of blossoms, the vacant look in Emmy's eyes slowly began to focus. She gradually calmed down. Her rapid breathing leveled out, though her body still betrayed a faint tremor.

Dean knelt on one knee beside her, gripping her hand tightly. He turned his head and growled at the doctor who had followed them in. "Hurry up! Her wrists are sprained, treat her injuries first!" Trembling with fear, the doctor approached with his medical kit and began tending to Emmy's sprains and the deep red marks left by the leather belt. Dean stared at her pale face in prolonged silence before finally standing up and exiting the garden.

The moment he stepped into the hallway, a subordinate ran up to him, drenched in cold sweat. "Boss! James is right on our tail! He is closing in fast and will likely discover this place any minute!" The subordinate's face was deathly pale as he continued. "Also, headquarters just sent a directive. They demand that you hand Emmy over immediately. They promised that if you surrender her, they have a way to keep you safe!"

Dean let out a low, cold laugh at those words. The laughter grew louder and louder until it spiraled into hysterical, maniacal cackling that echoed down the dim corridor, making the subordinate's skin crawl. "Hand her over?" Dean abruptly stopped laughing, his eyes turning so dark and venomous they seemed ready to drip poison. "On what grounds? I went to hell and back to bring her home! Why should I hand her over to that bastard James?"

Right at that moment, a subtle rustling sound came from behind a cluster of bushes. Emmy stiffened, staring warily in that direction. Behind the foliage, a hunched man was quietly waving at her. The lighting was too dim for Emmy to make out his face, but she could see a head of stark white hair. Her heart hammered against her ribs as she mustered her courage, taking a few cautious steps forward. When she finally recognized the man's face, she gasped in shock. It was none other than Dean's father, Uncle Ben.

Emmy remembered the last time she had seen Ben. He had a full head of dark hair and looked incredibly youthful and refined. How had he aged so drastically in just over two years? His hair was entirely white, his back was severely hunched, and his face was etched with deep wrinkles, making him look like a man with one foot in the grave. "Uncle Ben," Emmy began, her voice trembling. "How are you here?"
