Chapter 547.
Showing off metallic superpowers in front of Josie Quinn was like a student trying to outperform the master.
Josie casually manifested a metallic shield, blocking every incoming attack instantly.
*Clang! Clang! Clang!*
The small throwing knives clattered to the ground.
With a flick of her wrist, Josie sent vines surging forward, binding the three men tightly so they couldn’t cause any more trouble.
“Keep talking,” Josie said.
“Since you refused to sell her Power Rain, she had no way to re-awaken her superpowers,” Leo Lancaster continued. “She didn’t want to stay a Norm forever. Norms are weak-they get hurt easily, they die easily, and their status is bottom-tier.”
“Even though our Base Commander is good to them, he hasn’t officially married her mother yet.”
“In other words, June Quinn’s mother is currently just living with the Base Commander; they aren’t legally married
“Maybe they plan to, but time has been tight, and they haven’t had the chance to hold a wedding yet.”
“But regardless, June’s status as the base’s ‘princess’ isn’t as stable as it looks.”
Josie arched an eyebrow.”Malcolm Monroe didn’t give her any authority? Like making her a minor leader?”
“No,” Leo answered.”He only put her in charge of that laboratory. For a while, the Base Commander was very indulgent with her. But after he returned a few days ago, his attitude shifted drastically. He ordered the lab dismantled immediately and hasn’t given June any new assignments!”
Josie smirked.
No wonder June was getting desperate. She had realized that Malcolm was no longer a reliable safety net.
Then again, June was never the type to trust men in the first place.
It was only natural that she would set her sights on Josie again.
But June really was a fool.
She claimed not to trust men, yet she still relied on her charms to seduce a bunch of unreliable idiots to come and do her dirty work. June must have known these men wouldn’t succeed, yet she sent them anyway-purely to annoy and harass Josie.
*Heh.
Fine.
Josie had been too busy lately to deal with her. Since June was stupid enough to hand herself over on a silver platter, it was time to settle the score for both this life and the last.
Josie released Leo.”You can go.”
Clutching his mangled arm, Leo struggled to his feet and began to limp away.
The other three immediately began to howl with rage.”Coward! You betrayed June! You don’t deserve to love her!”
Leo let out a cold, sharp laugh.”You guys ‘deserve’ her? Fine. If I had known we were all just guests in her bed, I never would have come here in the first place!”
“You really think June Quinn is some virtuous woman? Why don’t you ask the guys sitting next to you? I bet every single one of you has been in her bedroom!”
“If she was going to be with me forever, I might have considered these injuries worth it.”
“But aside from me, she has all of you ‘simps’-and probably a dozen more I don’t know about.”
“If you want to be her playthings, go ahead. I’m done being a fool!”
If you want to die for her, be my guest. I’m out!”
With that, Leo turned and left without a hint of hesitation.
Josie sat on the ground. She took one of the fallen daggers and transformed it into an iron rod, tapping it against the heads of the remaining three.”Alright, let’s hear it. Where is June right now?”
“What are you going to do? You think you can make me betray my precious lune
