The White Manor was only an hour or two away from Azure Bay by car. He and his wife could drop in to visit their son and daughter whenever they wanted.
The more he thought about it, the more brilliant the idea seemed. Andres practically wanted to pack the two little blockades up and ship them off that very second.
Maeve gave him a deadpan look. "Do you just not love your son and daughter?"
"I love them! Of course I love them," Andres quickly defended himself. "But compared to those two, I love you more."
"You are the only person who will always be the center of my universe."
He pointed a resentful finger toward the nursery. "Don't you think those two little things are way too clingy?"
The twins had inherited the absolute best traits from both parents, making them obscenely adorable.
Every time Andres looked at them, his heart melted.
But loving them didn't mean he was willing to tolerate them monopolizing his wife every waking hour.
Determined to win Maeve over, Andres started aggressively pitching his angle.
"Maeve, you took a year off from university to have these babies. Now that they're safely here, you need to go back and finish your degree."
"Your grades are flawless, but you still need that diploma from Aethelburg University."
"When you head back to campus, we'll need someone completely trustworthy to watch the babies. My mom is the absolute best candidate for the job."
"And you know my mom hates living here at the villa. The manor is spacious, and there's a full staff."
"Besides, you've just started outlining a new round of experiments. Being a full-time mom is going to drastically derail your career timeline."
"I absolutely refuse to let those two clueless little brats stop my wife from becoming the most powerful woman on earth."
Hearing his desperate sales pitch, Maeve finally broke into laughter.
"Whitty, you are really going to extreme lengths just to evict your own children."
"I'm going back to school in a few days," she reasoned. "I really won't have the time to care for them properly, and those two little guys are way too attached to me anyway."
The arrival of the twins had permanently solved her two biggest problems.
Not only was she no longer bound to Andres by the curse, but she also no longer had to fear being struck by lightning during a thunderstorm.
She had an overwhelming amount of work to handle in the near future, meaning her time with the babies would be drastically cut down anyway. Letting their grandmother step in to help was the most logical choice.
Andres stared at her, genuinely stunned by how fast she had agreed.
"Wait. Really? We're sending them?"
Maeve raised an eyebrow. "Wasn't it your idea to send them to The White Manor?"
"I just... I assumed you'd say no."
"If someone is offering to help me raise my kids, why on earth would I say no?"
