Claimed by the Crown Heir novel Chapter 124

This place was a lawless hive. A beautiful woman walking alone was bound to run into trouble.

"Then why aren't you following her to see what's wrong?" Alistair's displeased voice came through the speaker.

"But Boss, I still have a drop to make."

"Make sure she's safe. Everything else can wait."

"Understood."

Quentin immediately sprinted in the direction Vanessa had disappeared.

Soon, Vanessa found Seraphina's phone buried under a pile of trash. The screen was shattered into a spiderweb of cracks.

Looking around, she saw no sign of her friend. Her heart sank heavily in her chest.

Did something happen to her?

"Ms. Grant, slow down. What's your friend's name? Maybe I can help," Quentin said, catching his breath as he caught up to her.

Vanessa furrowed her brow. "Seraphina Sloan. She called and told me she accidentally stumbled into a drug deal. I called the cops before I got here."

Quentin's casual demeanor instantly vanished. He grabbed her arm. "Then you definitely shouldn't be down here. Come back up with me. When the police arrive, they'll find her for you."

"By the time the cops get here, those guys will be long gone, and she'll be dead."

"Staying here won't change anything. I'll make a call and get someone to find her."

Ignoring her protests, Quentin forcefully dragged her out of the underground maze.

Furious, Vanessa punched him several times. He didn't even flinch, while her knuckles turned red from the impact.

Like master, like subordinate. They were both insufferable.

"You..." She couldn't remember his name.

"Ms. Grant, I'm Quentin Pierce."

"I don't care what your name is. Were you lying to me earlier?"

But the Undercity was a labyrinth of interconnected tunnels and hidden escape routes.

Even though they locked down the main doors, many suspects slipped through the hidden passages, leaving the police with only a handful of suspicious low-level thugs.

And Seraphina was nowhere to be seen among the detained.

The officers loaded the thugs into the squad cars while a few stayed behind to secure the scene and take statements.

Vanessa was pulled aside to give her statement, but her heart had turned to ice. A suffocating wave of despair washed over her, making every breath feel freezing cold.

"Ms. Grant, are you okay?" Seeing her pale face, Quentin tried to comfort her. "Don't panic. Just because they didn't find her doesn't mean she was taken. She might have slipped out and will call you soon."

"What if... what if they dragged her back in with them?" Vanessa's voice trembled, her eyes filled with sheer panic.

Quentin, always blunt, spoke without thinking. "She saw their faces. If they caught her, they'll definitely silence her."

Vanessa's legs gave out. She swayed heavily, and the next second, she collapsed into a warm, solid embrace.
