The change of leadership in a lion pride was a very normal thing, and the lionesses had long gotten used to it. 

The Great Valley Pride didn’t have any cubs right now, so the lionesses didn’t mind switching to a new male leader. They welcomed the strong young lion who defeated the old king. 

The highest–ranking lioness stepped forward and introduced herself, “Hello, I’m Yaya” 

As she spoke, she lowered her head and tucked her tail to show submission. 

The other lionesses approached, and a few lively young lionesses curiously tried to nuzzle the new lion king and exchange 

scents with him. 

Before Nyx could stop them. Theon and Felix tensed up, like they were facing a huge danger, quickly barking away

Male lions don’t have the word “loyalty” in their 

the pride and sometimes go outside the pricabulary. They naturally see themselves as the mates of all the lionesses in 

find other females. 

But Nyx clearly saw the intense anxiety in Theon and Felix’s eyes, as if they were worried she might misunderstand.

As Nyx grew older, the two male lions had started to think of themselves as her potential mates. 

The names Theon and Felix had become inseparable from them, and they obviously belonged to Nyx.

When the former lion king lost, the lionesses of the Great Valley weren’t sad or nostalgic because they were very pleased with the new king

After a while. Nyx finally managed to get them to calm down. 

She shook out her fur and climbed onto a rock to look around. 

The Great Valley truly was as rich and fertile as the rumors said–lush vegetation, plenty of prey, a real paradise. 

Whether in the rainy season or the dry season, this place always pulsed with life. 

The two male lions tightly followed Nyx, sticking close to her as they enjoyed the view. “Nyx, did you like it here?” 

If Nyx wanted to stay, they would have to work hard to keep their position as lion kings for a bit longer, maybe even a lot Jonger. 

If Nyx didn’t want to stay, they would leave with her. 

After the dry season ended, they could return to their old home or just wander around the savannah. 

No male lion liked to wander. But with Nyx by their side, they never felt like they were wandering.

Standing on the tall rock, she could see far off in the distance, watching the lionesses from the Great Valley Pride hunting, chasing a herd of zebras 

It was then that she suddenly felt hungry. 

After traveling all night yesterday, Nyx’s stomach had been empty. She had just gulped down some water to fill up, and now she felt a bit uncomfortable, swaying 

Male lions could easily go days without eating, but as soon as they heard Nyx’s stomach growl, they couldn’t sit still. 

“Let’s go hunt,” they insisted, telling Nyx to stay and rest. 

After seeing how weak Nyx looked yesterday, they had gotten really worried. They were honestly concerned she might be 

sick.

The two male lions immediately set off, and Nyx, unable to argue, stayed behind and waited. 

She watched them leave, and then turned her attention back to the lionesses working together to hunt. 

The lionesses of the Great Valley Pride were all well–fed and strong, very skilled at hunting. They worked together smoothly to trap and corner their prey, and soon enough, they brought down a zebra. 

When they returned, they were surprised to find only Nyx in the territory. They thought, ‘Where has the King gone? 

Normally, the lion king ate first when the pride fed. Now that the prey was back, but the lion king wasn’t here, the lionesses looked at each other, unsure of what to do. 

“Go ahead and eat, don’t wait for them,” Nyx said, hopping down from the rock. “Theon and Felix are out hunting too.” 

The lionesses were even more confused at this. They thought, ‘Male lions hunting? It is normal for wandering male lions to hunt, but aren’t they part of the pride now?” 

The male lion king did sometimes hunt, but that was usually for bigger prey. 

Normally, their job was to patrol the territory and drive off intruders. 

“If the lion king isn’t eating, can we start?” a young lioness asked in a low voice, clearly eager. 

No. Yaya answered cautiously. 

She was still not sure if the new male lions in the pride would hunt for themselves. It was more likely they were marking their territory. That, she thought, was what the newly crowned male lion king was supposed to do.
