Chapter 261 

The vibe was somewhat heavy, and it didn’t feel right. 

Noel’s sharp senses picked up on the oddness. He stopped in his tracks, cautiously observing for a while, his tail tucked between his legs and ears drooping. 

“Noel Nyx’s sharp eyes spotted a little lump curled up in the corner, and the waved her hand. “Come to mommy” 

She hugged Noel who came running towards her and noticed that his eyes were still filled with tears. Even after a night of sleep, his mood didn’t seem to have improved. 

“What’s wrong?” Nyx wiped his tears. “You’ve already apologized. Mommy and daddy don’t blame you anymore” 

They wouldn’t hold Noel’s mistake against him 

Noel sniffled and nuzzled his head into Nyx’s embrace, carefully watching her face, and quietly asked, “Really?” 

He thought. But mommy and daddy’s expressions seem so bad. Could it be that they are still upset with me? 

The thought that Nyx might dislike him made Noel feel bad. He was on the verge of crying his heart out. 

Nyx followed his gaze around the room and noticed that her mates indeed looked upset. 

The air was thick with tension. 

She thought. There’s rarely such a vibe in the house, no wonder the little one is scared.” 

“Yes” Nyx gently patted Noel and hugged him, kissing his fluffy little face. “Mommy and daddy are upset, but it’s not because of you.” 

Everyone was indeed frustrated by Noel’s lie, but when they found out he could transform back into his human form, they were all relieved and happy for him. 

The vibe in the house, however, was heavy because Nyx had just received news from Seafarion that his grandfather was near death, and the doctor had given him about a month to live. 

For more than half a year, Seafarion had been staying at Sea Race Stars, accompanying his grandfather. 

Nyx had also visited several times, and each time, the situation seemed to have worsened. 

The former clan leader had always been in good health, with no serious illnesses, but his bodily functions were now deteriorating. Unlike diseases, aging was irreversible and incurable. No matter how advanced technology or how much wealth one had, no one could truly fight against death.

With new energy souces widely used, the originally long journey was now shortened to just a few hours.

When Nyx arrived, Seafarion was keeping vigil by his grandfather’s side. 

The usually appearance–conscious male was somewhat disheveled at the moment, standing there in a daze, his beautiful face thin and pale, filled with fragility, which made him especially pitiful. 

Nyx quickly approached. “I’m here.” 

“Nyx Seafarion shuddered, as if waking from a dream. 

He tightly embraced Nyx, drawing much comfort from her. 

The sound of medical equipment echoed regularly in the room, and the cold smell of medication lingered in the air. 

The former clan leader, who was once full of life, was now confined to the medical pod and mostly in a coma, only occasionally surfacing into consciousness. 

He couldn’t move on his own, and speaking was difficult. His eyes were half–open as he gazed at Nyx and Seafarion. embracing each other, a look of contentment spreading across his face. 

Before his life reached its end, he was able to see that the Seafarion he cared most about found a happy home. He had no regrets left. 

The former clan leader’s gaze slowly shifted, scanning over each of Nyx’s young offspring, his eyes filled with love and joy, as well as a sense of yearning. 

Their lineage had always been thin, with only him and Seafarion in the main family, and not many on the side branches either. He had never seen such a lively scene with so many young ones gathered together. 

Although he couldn’t see Seafarion’s young ones born, he could imagine what they might look like. 

Nyx called to him through the cabin door. 

The last time they met, the former clan leader could still talk with her, but now, he couldn’t even say a word. 

He merely scanned the visitors who had arrived, and then, satisfied, shut his eyes, appearing drained and drifting into a profound slumber.

Nyx embraced Seafarion, hearing his trembling and hurried breath, and her heart grew heavy with the weight of the

She silently stared at the former clan leader for a while, unable to stop herself from asking the Divine Tree in her mind, “Where do people go after they die? 

It was the first time she had seriously thought about this question.

“Sleep for a while.” Nyx said, raising her hand to cover his eyes. 

Seafarion hadn’t just missed a good night’s rest–he had spent the past six months unable to relax at work, constantly caring for his grandfather, always on edge, and trapped in relentless insomnia. His exhaustion was impossible to hide. 

If this continued, even an SS–level male as him with strong physical constitution would eventually break down. 

Nyx, with a heart full of sympathy, gently patted him, as though soothing a young child to sleep. 

The room fell quiet, with only the sound of their two breathing intermingling. 

Because of the heavy thoughts weighing on his heart, Seafarion struggled to find rest despite his body being so tired. His mind continued to wander, and he couldn’t relax. 

Time ticked by, and his long lashes still trembled, as though he couldn’t fall asleep.
