Captive Hearts: The Tycoon's Ugly Bride novel Chapter 30

Chapter 30 Stealing the Ring

If she couldn't attend the party, she wouldn't be able to see Henry. Who would take care of her grandmother's surgery then?

Blanche wasn't sure about James' opinion, but Dany and Nicole had always seen her as a thorn in their side. They might cause trouble if she asked James to help with her grandmother's surgery.

Blanche clenched her teeth and glared at the sleeping man on the bed.

He was sleeping soundly, unaware that his words had sentenced her to 'death'.

She pressed her forehead, trying to think of a solution.

Suddenly, she remembered that someone had sent an invitation to Tammy during the day. It was strange that they were from the same family but still needed an invitation to get in.

But perhaps this wealthy family had some odd rules. If Tammy had received an invitation, then Louis must have one too.

Blanche came up with an idea. If she could get Louis' invitation, she could attend the party. This was the only way.

Louis could get in even without an invitation since he was the grandson of the Herbart family.

She lifted the quilt and tiptoed toward the rack where Louis' trench coat was hanging.

She crouched down, held her breath, and touched the coat. It was heavy and good in quality.

She felt the pocket and happily stuck her hand in.

To her surprise, it was empty. She checked again but still found nothing.

Her last hope was dashed, and she was dismayed. Without an invitation, how could she attend the old lady's birthday party?

Blanche didn't know that the invitation sent during the day had been requested by Tammy for Cathy.

Blanche pursed her lips and stared at the king-size bed, thinking quickly.

She remembered seeing Louis wearing a ring on his left index finger that morning. It was a dragon ring, a symbol of power and identity.

It was a feasible solution if she could take it away and go to the party to find him under the pretext of delivering the ring to him.

The ring was placed in the drawer of the bedside table and stored in a black box.

Blanche crept back to the sofa and picked up her phone. She moved even more quietly than before as she made her way to the bedside table.

The table was very close to Louis.

Blanche squatted down and held her breath as she slowly pulled open the drawer. Suddenly, the man on the bed turned over and she sat down in shock.

Her hand slowly moved toward the ring.

She pursed her lips, thinking to herself that he couldn't blame her for this. After all, he was the one who deprived her of her right to see the old lady. She would take good care of it for him and return it to him after the party.

But suddenly there was a big movement on the bed. Her phone was knocked out of her hand, and she found herself pinned down by Louis' lean and strong body.

An angry voice came crashing down.

"Who is it? What are you doing?"

Louis' thighs were on either side of Blanche's legs, pinning them down. And her arms were clasped together and pressed down above her head.

His two arms were pressed above her head, immobilizing her.

Blanche's heart was pounding like a drum. She was caught in the act, but she still clung to a glimmer of hope and didn't make a sound.

Louis' face was grim as he grabbed her slender arms. Was the person beneath him a woman?

He immediately picked up the phone that had fallen onto the bed and shone it directly onto the face of the person beneath him. Blanche desperately tried to cover her face, but her hands were pinned down.

"Blanche!"
