Buying My Forever Wife novel Chapter 70

Plus, it meant free food and a free vacation. Obviously, she wouldn't say no.

Satisfied, Alaric turned back to the child and nodded.

"Alright."

"Yay! This is awesome! I love you guys so much!"

Whenever Stella got what she wanted, she knew exactly how to lay on the charm.

Mrs. Gable quickly packed the necessary gear for the trip.

Alaric insisted on driving himself, chauffeuring the two girls out of the city and toward the highly popular Lakeside Grove Campgrounds.

The weather was absolutely perfect—endless blue skies, fluffy white clouds, and a gentle, cooling breeze.

Stella was dressed in an excessively expensive, frilly princess dress.

Ivy wore a simple but incredibly flattering sky-blue sundress.

During the drive, Alaric kept catching himself glancing at her in the rearview mirror.

The girl really was beautiful.

She wasn't wearing an ounce of makeup, but her features were delicate and striking, her skin absolutely luminous. She was so petite, she probably weighed around ninety pounds.

Standing barely five foot three, she only reached the middle of his chest.

When she stood next to his daughter, they looked exactly like a pair of sisters.

No one looking at them would ever guess this young girl was married to a man in his thirties.

Sometimes, Alaric actually felt a heavy burden of guilt.

Why had he married a woman a decade younger than him?

Wait, no!

He wasn't the one who demanded the marriage.

She was the one who had practically forced his hand.

And after forcing her way into the marriage, she refused to act like a real wife.

She was treating him like a complete sucker.

The more Alaric thought about it, the more violently annoyed he became.

They soon arrived at the campgrounds.

Ivy moved toward the trunk of the SUV to help unload the gear, but Alaric immediately shot her down.

"Just keep an eye on Stella. I'll handle the bags."

"Huh? Oh, okay."

Ivy blinked, slowly processing his shift in mood before grabbing Stella's hand.

Because it was the weekend, the campgrounds were completely packed.

Children were running everywhere.

She definitely needed to keep a close watch on Stella so she wouldn't get lost.

Being compared to Ivy's father had left his pride severely bruised, and his mood had turned volatile.

Taken aback by his sudden hostility, Ivy shrunk away and obediently went back to holding Stella's hand.

For some strange reason, her chest felt tight, a sharp, bitter pang of sadness radiating through her ribs.

Of course.

Mr. Foster was still furious with her.

He was still holding a grudge because she had dared to kiss him last night.

Ivy felt a wave of misery wash over her, but she swallowed it down, pasting on a smile as she pulled Stella over to take a few pictures by the water.

Stella shook her head stubbornly, pushing the phone away. "Mommy, I want a family photo! I want one with you, me, and Daddy all together!"

Ivy nervously glanced over her shoulder at Alaric.

Seeing him forcefully hammering a tent peg into the ground, she gently coaxed the child:

"Let's wait until your daddy is done setting up, okay?"

"Okay!"

Stella turned toward Alaric and yelled across the grass, "Daddy, hurry up! Once you're done, we have to take our family photo!"

Without even looking up, Alaric replied coldly, "Take it yourselves. Leave me out of it."

"No! I want a picture with my mommy and my daddy!"

Stella immediately geared up for another tantrum.
