Buying My Forever Wife novel Chapter 65

Ivy never imagined the little girl would be this relentlessly stubborn about making her share a bed with Mr. Foster.

Their marriage was a complete sham; how on earth could they sleep together?

Ivy's face flushed a deep crimson as an awkward tension settled over her. She frantically tried to change the subject.

"Stella, try this, it's really good! Once we finish eating, we can go play with the instruments. Your daddy bought so many beautiful ones for you!"

Stella ignored the distraction, keeping her gaze locked on her father. Her expression was both adorable and deadly serious.

"Daddy, did you hear me? You have to let Mommy sleep in your room tonight, understand?"

Alaric's expression wasn't much better.

From the corner of his eye, he observed Ivy sitting beside his daughter.

Her silence and lack of intervention made the atmosphere in the dining room thick and suffocatingly awkward.

Finally, Ivy was the one to break the tension.

"Stella, we can talk about tonight when tonight gets here. Hurry up and eat, or I won't play with you later."

Stella noticed that her father hadn't said a word, simply maintaining his usual cold, handsome, unreadable expression.

No wonder Mommy didn't want to sleep with him.

Anyone who shared a bed with him would probably freeze to death.

The little girl shook her head and sighed, suddenly sounding like a weary old woman.

"Talking to you adults is exhausting. One of you keeps changing the subject, and the other just ignores me. I don't think you guys actually want to be my mommy and daddy at all. I'm done eating. You two can eat by yourselves."

Clearly furious, she hopped down from her chair, crossed her arms over her chest, and stomped over to sulk on the living room sofa.

Alaric followed her retreating figure with his eyes.

For the first time, he realized this five-year-old girl was growing up and becoming far too perceptive.

But who on earth taught her that mommies and daddies had to sleep in the same bed?

Alaric's gaze slowly shifted back to Ivy.

Was it her?

Deep down, had she been lusting after him this entire time?

Was she just too proud to admit it directly?

Or maybe she was terrified that if she asked, he'd dismiss her as a gold-digging opportunist and kick her out, so she resorted to brainwashing his daughter to do her dirty work?

That had to be it.

"Mr. Foster, please don't look at me like that. I swear I didn't tell her to say those things."

Feeling deeply uncomfortable under his penetrating stare, Ivy quickly lowered her head and defended herself.

She had no idea why a five-year-old was stressing over something like this.

Ivy was completely speechless.

Good lord.

Please, just spare her.

How could she possibly have the courage to kiss Mr. Foster?

The man was a walking glacier.

She'd probably freeze to death from his radiating chill before her lips even made contact.

Of course, Alaric heard his daughter's demand perfectly well.

But he pretended he hadn't heard a thing, sitting rigidly in his chair as he continued to elegantly finish his meal.

Internally, he decided that if Ivy came over and kissed him, he wouldn't push her away.

After all, it was a child's request.

He could make allowances for that.

So he waited patiently.

He waited for Ivy to realize she couldn't win against the child's stubbornness and finally come over to initiate the kiss.

But after waiting for what felt like an eternity, Ivy didn't make a single move.
