Buying My Forever Wife novel Chapter 27

In the middle of the night, Ivy caught a ride-share to the high-speed rail station.

After picking up her sister, she took her straight to a motel.

Hazel was three years younger than Ivy, but stood a little taller, measuring about five-foot-seven, which made her look incredibly slender and lithe.

Both sisters had remarkably luminous skin, natural beauty, and striking features.

They didn't look at all like girls who had grown up in a poverty-stricken rural household.

Following her sister into a cheap motel room that cost barely a few dozen dollars a night, Hazel set down her luggage and stood to the side, asking with a pained expression.

"Ivy, does your husband treat you badly?"

Otherwise, why wouldn't she dare take her home when they were already married?

No matter what, they were blood sisters. The least her brother-in-law could do was greet her when she came to visit.

But not only did her brother-in-law fail to show up this late at night, he also made Ivy go to the station and drop her off at a motel all by herself.

Realizing that her sister's marriage had been forced, and that she was likely suffering, Hazel felt so heartbroken she wanted to cry.

Ivy placed the late-night snacks she had bought on the table and turned to look at her sister.

"Not at all. Alaric treats me very well. The only reason I didn't bring you back is because it's a little inconvenient right now. You'll understand in the future."

Ivy gestured to her. "Eat something first! I'll sleep here with you tonight, and you can just explore the area over the next two days. I still have to work, so I won't be able to keep you company during the day."

Hazel nodded and obediently went to eat.

Meanwhile, at The Starlight Estate.

Alaric couldn't fall asleep, his eyes repeatedly darting to the time.

Seeing that it was past midnight and Ivy had gone out alone to pick up her sister and was probably staying at a hotel, he felt a strange, inexplicable sense of guilt.

He wondered if he had been too harsh.

After all, he was legally her husband.

Her little sister had come all this way, and he actually hadn't let his wife bring her home.

Just then, the sound of a child crying drifted over from the next room.

Alaric got out of bed to check.

"Hello, Mr. Foster, is something wrong?"

As she asked, she could vaguely hear the sound of the child crying in the background.

Alaric coaxed the child while speaking to Ivy.

"Stella wants you here. Bring your sister and come stay at the house."

He hated strangers, so he figured he would just go sleep at his apartment later.

Alaric guessed that if he didn't tell her to return, his wife might end up staying at the hotel with her sister for a long time.

He probably wouldn't even be able to get her to come back.

Listening to him, Ivy also felt terrible for Stella.

She asked Alaric, "Do I really need to come back right now?"

It was already three in the morning.

Alaric had little patience left. "Why else would I be calling you? Hurry up and come back."
