Buying My Forever Wife novel Chapter 246

She watched with rapt attention as he slowed down his movements to show her the knot.

She was genuinely trying to learn.

But Alaric's gaze was fixed entirely on her, completely unwavering.

In the past, having Ivy this close would have completely shattered his control, and he would have pulled her into a deep, consuming kiss.

Even now, his desires were fiercely stirring.

But his body refused to cooperate.

He couldn't do what he used to do.

Just the thought of his newfound impotence filled him with such intense humiliation, resentment, and fury that he genuinely wanted to murder Elena.

Noticing that his hands had stopped moving, Ivy glanced up.

She caught him staring at her, completely lost in thought.

Her heart hammered against her ribs, and a deep flush spread across her face.

Unable to resist the pull, she stood up on her tiptoes, leaning in to kiss him.

Alaric snapped back to reality, watching as she reached for his lips.

If he didn't lower his head, she would never reach him.

She was far too short, barely coming up to his chest.

Instead of meeting her halfway, he lifted his chin, quickly cinched the tie, and took a step back, putting distance between them.

"I'm leaving."

Ivy was instantly mortified, her face burning with embarrassment.

He had rejected her.

She had only wanted to distract him, to help him forget his troubles for just a moment.

But he had pulled away.

Watching him leave the room, Ivy pushed past her humiliation and hurried after him, walking him to the front door.

"Stella and I will be waiting right here until the day you bring us back to The Starlight Estate."

Alaric looked down at her.

He still couldn't tell if she acted like this because she genuinely cared for him, or if she was just fawning over him for his money.
