She stormed out of the room, slamming the door behind her.
Ivy leaned back against the headboard, struggling to bite back a laugh.
If Dr. Sinclair ever found out she was actually Alaric's legal wife, the look on her face would be absolutely priceless.
It was almost comical.
The actual, legal wife hadn't said a word, yet the side character was barging in trying to play house and take over her spot.
In her dreams!
Ivy got up, wanting to go check on Stella. Just then, her phone buzzed on the nightstand.
It was Alaric.
She answered immediately. The man's deep, steady voice came through the speaker.
"Are you down in the nanny's quarters?"
Ivy offered a soft, "Mhm."
"Come upstairs."
Ivy's eyes lit up.
He was back?
Realizing Mr. Foster was likely waiting for her upstairs, she quickly straightened her clothes and hurried out.
As she passed through the living room, she noticed Elena sitting rigidly on the sofa. Her expression was utterly venomous, as if someone had just slapped her across the face.
Ivy ignored her and practically sprinted up the stairs.
Watching her rush up, Elena stood up furiously and yelled, "Ivy, what are you doing going up there?"
Ivy didn't even turn around. She walked straight into the master suite and found Alaric sitting on the sofa in the sitting area, holding Stella. She walked over and sat down right next to them.
"Stella, can I give you a hug?"
Stella shook her head aggressively, shrinking back into her father's chest. It was a blatant, heartbreaking rejection.
Ivy felt a sharp pang of sorrow, but she immediately offered a gentle apology.
"I am so, so sorry about what happened. I failed to protect you, and the bad guys took you. I know I messed up. Can you please give me one more chance to make it right?"
Stella just stared at her with wide, unblinking eyes, offering zero response.
Alaric pressed a soft kiss to his daughter's head, his tone incredibly patient and coaxing.
"She apologized, sweetie, and she's going to make it up to you. Can you forgive her just this once?"
Stella stubbornly refused, burying her entire face into Alaric's chest so she wouldn't even have to look at Ivy.
