By the time they reached the hotel, Ivy couldn't even stand on her own two feet.
Alaric had to carry her all the way up to their suite.
Maisie and Gideon followed closely behind.
Even after they reached the room, Maisie was still profusely apologizing on behalf of her brother.
Alaric ignored the apologies, instructing Leo—who had stayed behind at the hotel—to escort the two of them out. He gently laid Ivy onto the massive bed in the master suite.
"Just get some sleep. You'll feel much better when you wake up."
Ivy gave a weak nod.
Alaric tucked her in and adjusted the thermostat to a comfortable setting.
Remembering her tearful confession about being terrified of being left alone, he decided not to leave the room. Instead, he pulled up a chair and stayed right by her side.
Ivy felt completely wiped out. She slipped into a deep, heavy slumber, unaware of how much time had passed.
When she finally blinked awake, it was the early hours of the morning.
Her stomach was growling.
The awful nausea had mostly subsided.
She propped herself up against the pillows.
The man resting next to her noticed her stirring and immediately sat up. "How are you feeling? Any better?"
Ivy jumped slightly, startled by his sudden proximity.
She shot him a quick glance and offered a quiet, "Mhm."
Alaric reached out, gently resting his hand against her forehead. Satisfied she wasn't running a fever, he asked, "Are you hungry? Want something to eat?"
Ivy nodded.
She had only eaten a little bit yesterday morning, and she had thrown it all up.
It was past midnight now, and she was genuinely starving.
Alaric grabbed his phone and dialed Leo. "Get some food ready."
Ivy felt a twinge of guilt. "I can go find something myself. It's so late, you shouldn't bother him."
"It's fine. He's quick."
Alaric tossed the phone aside, climbed out of bed, and walked around to her side.
"Want me to help you to the bathroom so you can freshen up?"
After all, she had passed out the second they got back without brushing her teeth.
She probably felt gross.
