Ivy had long since accepted her place.
It was just playing the role of a nanny; as long as she was getting paid, she was more than happy to do it.
But Dr. Elena Sinclair was moving into The Starlight Estate?
The news left a suffocating knot in Ivy's chest.
When they arrived at Metropolitan General, her temper flared. She slammed the car door shut, didn't spare the man beside her a single glance, and marched straight toward the hospital.
Alaric felt the sting of her anger and turned to Leo in sheer frustration.
"What is her problem? Is she throwing a tantrum by slamming my door?"
Leo mumbled hesitantly, "I think Mrs. Foster might be jealous."
"Jealous of what? What right does she have to be jealous? If she hadn't messed Stella up like this, would I even have to do this?"
Alaric's irritation only grew. His handsome face tightened as he watched Ivy's retreating figure, a strange, inexplicable pang tugging at his chest.
Eventually, he got out of the car and headed toward his daughter's room.
When Ivy reached the room, Mrs. Gable blocked her at the door.
"Mrs. Foster, hand that to me."
Ivy still wanted to go inside and check on Stella.
Seeing Alaric approaching from behind, ready to walk right past her, she acted on impulse.
She quickly reached out, grabbing his sleeve, and pleaded in a low voice.
"Let me go in and see her."
Alaric stopped. He looked down at her clutching his sleeve, his expression entirely unreadable.
"You were so fierce a minute ago. Let go."
"No. If you don't let me in, I'll tell Elena exactly what our relationship is."
Thinking about this scumbag actually moving another woman into their home made Ivy's blood boil. She didn't care about the consequences anymore; she just wanted to burn it all down.
At worst, he'd divorce her and tell her to pack her bags.
At least then she wouldn't have to look at him and feel this miserable.
Alaric stared at her.
He couldn't believe it. She actually had the audacity to confront him and threaten him.
Who gave her the nerve?
