Hearing that, Ivy quickly scurried into the kitchen to prepare food.

She had assumed Alaric wouldn't be coming home tonight. Since she had nothing to do alone in the house, she had stayed a bit longer in Ethan's room.

She never expected this stubborn man to wait for her at home to cook.

If he was waiting, why didn't he call or text her?

What if she hadn't come back at all tonight?

Ivy found Alaric's behavior baffling and contrarian.

He certainly wasn't going to give Ivy what she wanted and just let her walk away unscathed.

Ivy quickly finished making dinner.

Three dishes and a soup.

As she set them on the dining table, she called out to Alaric.

"Dinner is ready, Mr. Foster."

She was acutely aware that she was filling Mrs. Gable's role now, which meant she needed to know her place and not eat with the master of the house.

So, she tactfully went off to find some chores to do.

Alaric walked over to the table and sat down.

Seeing Ivy wasn't joining him and had gone into the kitchen to clean,

he didn't say anything. He ate a few bites before heading upstairs to wash up.

Seeing there was plenty of food left, Ivy finally scooped half a bowl of rice and sat alone, eating in silence.

Alaric returned to his room.

He quickly noticed that all of Ivy's belongings were gone.

Including her toiletries.

Was she planning to move out?

Just when he was starting to get hooked on their physical intimacy, she was pulling away and plotting an exit.

Alaric felt incredibly frustrated.
