He stared in the direction Sebastian had vanished, then immediately turned to his assistant. "Contact the Hudsons. We're negotiating."
-
By the time Cordelia received the news, the main Hudson estate had already called.
She was usually buried in executive work, so she was slightly behind on the gossip.
But when the information finally reached her desk...
It was a full-blown catastrophe.
Though she hadn't raised Lily personally, she had always treated the little girl as her own granddaughter. When Ian had established legal custody of the child, she assumed he had simply had a falling out with the biological mother and brought the baby home alone.
But now, she was being told Lily wasn't a Hudson at all.
She was of the Croix bloodline!
By the time she rushed over, several of the Hudson family elders were already gathered.
Ian was in the grand hall as well, his expression as cold as frost.
Cordelia marched over, her high heels clicking sharply against the marble floor. "What on earth is going on!"
"The elder Chairman of the Croix family has already called. He wants to negotiate the return of the child. His tone was a blatant power play. If this isn't resolved flawlessly, the hostility between our families will be dragged into the public eye. We could end up in an all-out war where no one wins."
One of the elders looked extremely displeased.
Cordelia asked, "Did you agree to a meeting?"
"Tonight, at the Rosewood Hotel."
Cordelia's face darkened.
She abruptly turned her fierce gaze onto Ian, who had remained silent the entire time. "Did you know all along that Lily belonged to Raelynn and Sebastian? And you went to such great lengths to help her? No, 'help' isn't the right word. This happened years ago. Back then, were you using Lily to sabotage your arranged marriage with the Yves family? What kind of deal did you strike with Raelynn?"
Cordelia was razor-sharp, instantly connecting the dots as to why the two of them had orchestrated bringing Lily into the Hudson fold.
Ian finally looked up. "Does it matter now?"
"How does it not matter?! With this blowing up in our faces, the Hudsons can't afford to walk away empty-handed. Even if your original plan was to use the kid to dodge the Yves alliance, you absolutely cannot get tangled in the crossfire between Raelynn and the Croix family now."
"Have you forgotten? Tomorrow is my wedding to Raelynn." Ian's stern, steady expression didn't waver. Instead, he offered the cold reminder.
Cordelia's composure finally shattered. "Ian! You still want to go through with the wedding?! At a time like this?"

I think Ian is sly. He is not what he seems. Sebastian loves Raelyn and they have a daughter together. Besides he has no family to even take care of him. I feel Raelyn should realise that Sebastian is only her true love and go back to him....
