Boss, Your Wife Signed the Divorce Agreement Before the Wedding novel Chapter 781

Sebastian's gaze turned somber as he slowly turned around, locking eyes with Sierra, who had just walked in.

Surprised to find him changing, a soft flush crept up her cheeks. She quickly averted her gaze and stammered, "Mr. Croix, I'm so sorry. I knocked, but I didn't realize you were dressing..."

Sebastian's eyes were devoid of emotion.

He shot the girl a brief, indifferent glance before calmly rebuttoning his shirt.

"If you were truly sorry, you would leave right now."

His voice possessed a natural, icy edge. It sounded unintentional, yet carried a faint, inexplicable hint of mockery.

Sierra pressed her lips together and curled her fingers into tight fists. "I didn't mean to. I know it's inappropriate for us to be alone in here, which is why I left the door open." She pointed toward the ajar door.

Sebastian didn't even blink, simply taking a seat on the sofa. "Clearly, you're here for a reason."

His tone was unhurried, exuding a relaxed indifference.

Sierra finally turned back to face him. Looking at him with wide, doe-like eyes, she hesitated before murmuring, "Actually, I came on behalf of my sister. Raelynn and I just found out that today is the day you and Ms. Davenport are announcing your engagement. She was caught off guard and naturally a bit heartbroken. So, I came to ask you about it."

Sebastian found something amusing in her words. The corner of his lips curled up slightly as he met her gaze. "You're helping her? Did she specifically ask you to do this?"

Sierra took a couple of steps closer, her expression earnest. "You probably don't understand women, Mr. Croix. We have our pride. We hate bowing our heads to the people we care about. Today is supposed to be the day you and Ms. Davenport announce your union. Why did you invite Raelynn? Of course she's going to be upset."

"Is that so?"

He lit a cigarette, his tone flat.

He neither agreed nor disagreed.

Sierra bit her lip, eventually stopping right in front of him. "Why don't you reconsider? You and Raelynn were married for years. If she gets provoked and does something today to ruin the relationship between the Croix and Davenport families, it won't end well for anyone."

"I honestly just want you two to smooth things over." Sierra's lips turned down in a sympathetic pout. Her sweet, innocent face was full of pleading. "I hate seeing her hurt."
