Boss, Your Wife Signed the Divorce Agreement Before the Wedding novel Chapter 719

Tristan showed absolutely no sign of backing down. He and Raelynn had been close since their teenage years, and everyone in the family knew how deep their bond ran.

But right now, with Raelynn's former husband sitting right there without uttering a word, Tristan's fierce, uncompromising defense of her made the situation incredibly awkward. The tension in the room was palpable.

Matilda clutched her chest. "Tristan, are you trying to give me a heart attack? Come here right now. Don't make me ask twice!"

"Grandma?" Tristan saw she was genuinely distressed and quickly went over to support her.

Forrest's expression remained set in stone. He gave a sharp, dismissive wave of his hand.

Two guards immediately stepped forward, grabbing Raelynn by both arms and forcing her to her knees. The elderly butler advanced, gripping the vicious whip.

Raelynn couldn't overpower them. Her heart hammered wildly against her ribs. She had seen the shredded flesh on Cameron's back; her fear was entirely primal. Desperate to avoid the blow, she instinctively looked back.

Sebastian was still sitting in his wheelchair, shrouded in the dim lighting of the hall, his face an unreadable mask.

Seeing what was about to happen, Tristan tried to lunge forward again, but Matilda gripped his arm with surprising strength.

"Sebastian!" Tristan shouted, desperation bleeding into his voice. "Help her! Please, I'm begging you!"

Hearing his own brother beg for his mercy over Raelynn's life caused not a single ripple in Sebastian's dark eyes. He remained completely silent.

Raelynn wasn't surprised. It was exactly what she expected. A bitter, self-deprecating smile touched her lips. He had never cared if she lived or died. Why would he step in now?

"Sebastian!" Even the usually easygoing Tristan was losing his mind with panic.

Still, nothing. No one in the room was surprised by Sebastian's apathy. They had all witnessed his blatant disregard for her over the years. No one expected him to suddenly play the hero.

Raelynn's last shred of hope vanished. The butler, experienced in meting out punishment, raised the whip high.

Matilda, still clutching Tristan's arm, looked completely baffled. "Why on earth would you take a hit for her? Don't tell me you still have feelings for Raelynn?"

Raelynn's ears were ringing with her own frantic heartbeat. Looking back from such a close distance, she could clearly see the deep, bloody welt slashed across Sebastian's arm. The pain had to be excruciating.

Yet, Sebastian didn't even flinch. Meeting Raelynn's bewildered gaze, he lowered his arm. "Don't overthink it," he said, his voice dropping to a glacial chill.

"My divorce from Raelynn is a fact. If word gets out that the Croix family is torturing a woman who no longer belongs to us, we'll become the laughingstock of the city."

His words caused Forrest to frown and glance at the bleeding wound. "Are you saying I'm in the wrong?"

Sebastian shifted his gaze to the guards pinning Raelynn down. His cold stare made them flinch, and they immediately released her.

Only then did he speak, his tone completely detached. "It's a fact that she and I are done. It's a fact that the Hudson family has accepted her, and they plan to marry. Using violence now will only create a bitter feud with the Hudsons. When a situation can be resolved profitably, there's no need for brute force."
