Inside the courtyard, the matriarch's face was livid.
Staring at Jarred's back, the fury burning in her chest made her whole body tremble.
Others might not understand her grandson, but how could she not?
She had raised him for thirty years; did he really think she couldn't see what he was scheming?
The divorce, the assets—they were all excuses.
But why?
The matriarch couldn't figure it out. "Jarred, what are you trying to pull? She doesn't love you, and you have no feelings for her either. Why are you protecting her like this?"
Jarred remained silent, his profound gaze fixed on a spot on the ground, masking his thoughts entirely.
The matriarch shook her head in frustration.
She secretly signaled the bodyguards with a look, ordering them to chase after Sienna.
But as if he had anticipated this, Jarred planted himself firmly in front of the door. His posture was as unyielding as a pine tree, and no one dared to take a single step past him.
"Jarred! Step aside!"
The matriarch slammed her cane hard against the ground.
Jarred didn't move an inch, calmly looking at the furious woman. "You just want to vent your anger. If you absolutely must beat someone to feel better, then beat me."
He snatched a stun baton from a nearby bodyguard, weighed it in his hand, and offered it to the matriarch.
When she refused to take it, he offered it to the clan elders.
The elders furrowed their brows, looking at the matriarch. None of them dared to actually strike him.
The matriarch shook her head. "She hurt Celeste, she hurt me, and she hurt your mother! Helena was almost killed by Sienna, and she's still lying in a hospital bed!"
Jarred's expression didn't change, his tone completely flat. "I will personally apologize to my mother."
The matriarch was so angry she couldn't speak, one hand gripping the armrest of her wheelchair tightly.
"Are you dead set on defying me today?"
Jarred's face was indifferent as he simply said, "Beat me however you want. Once you're done, this matter is settled."
Looking at the coldness in his eyes, the matriarch felt like she was going to have a heart attack from pure rage.
